Publisher's Summary

Falling for “Maddening Moira” O’Malley was the unexpected highlight of Luke O’Brien’s Dublin holiday. So when she pays a surprise visit to Chesapeake Shores, Luke is thrilled…at first. A fling with this wild Irish rose is one thing, but forever? Maybe someday, but not when he’s totally focused on establishing a business that will prove his mettle to his overachieving family. Given Luke’s reaction, Moira has some soul - searching of her own to do. Scarred by her father’s abandonment, she wonders if Luke, with his playboy past, is truly the family man she longs for. Adding to her dilemma, she’s offered an amazing chance at a dream career of her own.
Deep down, though, Moira knows home is the real prize, and that love can be every bit as enchanted as a summer garden.

Unrealistic and rushed ending

What made the experience of listening to The Summer Garden the most enjoyable?

To hear the continuing saga of a family you've come to know through all the other books in the series.

Would you recommend The Summer Garden to your friends? Why or why not?

If they had listened to the other books in the series I would recommend this one.

Have you listened to any of Christina Traister’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

She is an extremely talented narrator. I've enjoyed listening to her in all the Chesapeake Shores books.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Any additional comments?

I've really enjoyed this series of books. And this one was no exception. I did have some trouble with the ending. As someone who has a relative going to the process of marrying someone who is not a citizen, I know that Luke and Moira could not have married as quickly as they did. It takes months to get the okay for this since 9/11. That's every country not just middle eastern ones. The book would have been much more satisfying with Nell and Dylan marrying and Luke and Moira being engaged and going through the necessary process for the wedding to take place. The days are over where you can simply marry a United States citizen and stay in the country. In fact, the marriage can't even take place until you have obtained all the approvals from the U.S. government.

Sherryl Woods has written 8 or 9 books in this series, with this book being the last. After listening to all those books and following this family, the ending seemed very, very rushed. I think she might have taken the time the ending deserved. The majority of the book was fine, but then it seemed like she decided she only had 30 minutes left she better hurry up. One of the great things about these books has been the time she takes to develop her characters so that the listener feels like they know them. This book ended with hurry up and marry everyone off. It was disappointing.

Big time snore

Cookie cutter variety, no imagination, boring story line, maddening family drama where everyone has to give their two cents, Moira was a big whiner. The narrator was boring too. I couldn't finish even the first half. I wish I could get my credit back. What a waste.
