Publisher's summary

She’s expecting a simple business deal, but he’s expecting much more....

Annabelle works tirelessly for her father’s mining company, despite their rocky relationship. So when he asks her to travel to the Middle East to complete an important business merger, Annabelle sees an opportunity. It’s her chance to prove her worth, but the culture clash proves difficult for the strong-minded American woman. She’s supposed to work closely with the son of the oil company’s CEO, but Annabelle’s not sure what to make of Imaad. He may be gorgeous, but she refuses to be cowed by his good looks or his old-fashioned ways.

Sheikh Imaad is ruthless in his business dealings for the family oil company, but standing up to his traditional father is not as simple. When he learns his father’s full intentions - that the business arrangements include an arranged marriage to the American executive, Imaad wants to refuse. His intended bride is both beautiful and brash, but Imaad has a plan. If he can convince Annabelle to go along with the fake marriage, they might both get what they truly want. Sounds simple, but Imaad soon realizes it won’t be easy to tame a Western woman.

A Twist to the Ordinary

I was voluntarily provided this free review copy audiobook by the author, narrator, or publisher.
This story has all the beautiful people with the purest hearts that you can hope for. It is of course a love story, sizzling at times, and with the happy ending we so crave. The characters are pleasant and even though you know how the story will end, you will be routing for that happy end. The writing is light and easy to follow and the interpretation right to the point. I have a little issue with narrators giving foreign characters an accent when they are supposed to be talking in their own language and not English. They wouldn't have an accent in their language, would they? However, since later on the characters do interact with their English co-protagonists, I can understand why the narrator thought it would be a good idea to give the hero and his family an accent right from the start.
Good easy reading and listening.

Great Contemporary Romance!

Leslie North is an outstanding writer and I always enjoy her fun and unique stories. This book does not disappoint. It is a short and enjoyable story about two people being forced into an arranged marriage by their controlling powerful fathers.

Narration was excellent and brought the story to life.

The characters were very likable and the story flowed well. It was a good pace to keep the story fun and interesting. I love Sheikh’s stories and this one is outstanding! The conclusion was even better than I expected it! Great contemporary romance!

Love is risky business, but heady stuff.

Imaad and Annabelle are as different as night and day, but they share one commonality. Proving themselves to the people they love.   Secret agendas conspire to bring them together, will a plan of their own, bind them forever?  Ms. North made use of a commonplace theme to create an original masterpiece.

Good Story, ....narration. ehh

I liked the story, hated the Narration. There were obvious noticeable gaps in the audio in the last 2 chapters. I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

yes to Imaad :)

A short but entertaining story that took Annabelle and Imaad from doing everything to stop the arranged marriage to falling in love. It was fast, kept my attention and had me rooting for them. The steamy scene in the dessert was really hot. Ending in a satisfying way resolving quite a few problems, the HEA is clear for these two and make a great pair. Looking forward to the next story in the series.

Enjoyed the narrator's voice, animated and engaging, good accents and variations, I will be checking out his other works too.

You need this in your library!

I had never read or heard anything by Leslie North before but this left me intrigued and wanting to find other works by her. Going into it I wasn't really sure what to expect because I don't generally read or listen to much of this particular trope (arranged marriage nor Sheik romance) but I was given this one and I am so glad that I was because I don't know that I would have found it and/or given it a try otherwise.

In the same way, I had never heard anything by Craig Van Ness but he was absolutely phenomenal! I have some pretty high standards for narrators that make it tough sometimes to wow me but he did just that! I was drawn in and felt the emotions of the story from the very beginning...another feat in itself. I just can’t say enough good about any of it; book or narrator.

I may be a bit obsessed w/ Leslie North's Sheikhs

While the heroine wasn't my fave (she was a bit too abrasive for my liking, though I understand why she was that way), I really did enjoy this story. Sheikh Imaad was a great counterpart to Annabelle - he was the dutiful son who wanted to do what was best for his people and please his father, even if it was against his own wishes. I did think that though Annabelle was able to get some resolution with her father, considering the circumstances (and a lifetime of slights), it was a little too late. But all's well that ends well, and this sultry tale definitely ended with an HEA. 3 out of 5 wine glasses and bring on more Sheikhs!
