Publisher's summary

They tell you there are plenty of fish in the sea, but nobody mentions the sharks. Plunge into this hot, hilarious audio-first romance by USA Today best-selling author Cara Lockwood!

Getting back into the dating scene is never easy, but imagine my surprise when I sign up for a dating app and get matched with my new business rival.

Rich, mysterious, and gorgeous, Peter is controlling my company's high-stakes merger. Everyone says he's a cutthroat corporate shark who takes no prisoners and guts companies with ruthless precision. But the more I get to know that man behind the expensive suit, the more I see hidden depths that no one else knows about.

Peter and I can't deny our attraction. But are his feelings real, or does he just want inside information about the merger? And when another boardroom power player makes his interest known, I start to wonder...am I falling for the wrong shark?

One thing is clear: In the world of dating, nothing is simple...but risking it all just might lead to the life of your dreams.

Mantuition. noun. It's raining men, Hallelujah!

This book is LOL funny and witty and relate-able. The plot reminded me of the movie “Bad Moms” wherein the heroine tries to make the best of life after divorce - ex stuff, teenage kids, sarcastic mom, and dating. It makes light of serious topics via witty dialogue and banter. Lori (h) is such a strong character in spite of her insecurities that i wished the book had been longer. One thing that I thought was unbelievable though was the “insta love” from Peter(H). But, I’m not complaining. I believe that the h totally deserved her H and HEA.

Amanda Ranconi’s delivery was spot on, enhancing my experience making my commute through bad traffic (due to accident) bearable. Really, I didn’t mind my almost 2 hour commute home on a Firday.

I’m raving about this book as a must read especially if you can listen to it for free through the Audible Romance package. Definitely, worth your time. If you are a reader who think mid-30 to 40 is too old, you may want to stay away. Otherwise, worth the credit. Happy listening!

Finally Romantic Fiction for Adults

I was pleasantly surprised to discover this entertaining romantic novel which focused on mature, engaging adults.

Divorced mother Laurie (40) was smart, loving and successful, hoping to find love again but not needing to be rescued or saved by a man. While she had her insecure moments, Laurie never whined or wallowed in self-pity.

Prominent businessman Peter (34) was intrigued by PR specialist Laurie, not intimated by her intelligence or beauty - such a wonderful change from the alpha jerks who need women to be stupid and submissive rather than equals.

My only complaint: I wished the book was longer! As always, Ms. Ronconi's narration was amazing.

Romance fluff

Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?

Traditional romance "fluff" with some humor mixed in. This listen doesn't require any depth of thinking or contain any particular character depth. It just is what it is. If you're looking for something light and fairly entertaining with some humor and sex, sure, this is it. If you're looking for something with some intelligence and character/story depth, this is most definitely not it.

Too short, but I loved it

It was a short listen, but I loved it. Amanda Ronconi as usual did a great job on narration. This is my first book by Cara Lockwood, and I’m interested in reading/listening to another one. The main character for me was a little indecisive at times. Which is a bit annoying, but as you listen and get to the end you can see why. It is a true romance audible listen, with all the good parts.

Poor Presentation of Story

What did you find wrong about the narrator's performance?

This was an 'adult' story, but the presntation sounded as if a 15 year old high school student was telling the story. The narration did not match the story line. I found the narration so distracting, that I could not get past the first hour.

Excellent performance

Although this is a great book it is beautifully enhanced by a perfectly performed narration!

Loved!

Funny, sweet, all the things! It was shorter than I'm used to but I really liked it. I liked that the main character was a single mother over 35. A lot of times these romances feature young people. I wish that men in real life could be like Peter, upfront and not afraid to be vulnerable...

Predictable and ignoring

The storyline is predictable and ignoring. I really tried to finish the book but unfortunately I gave up toward the end with 37 minutes left because I couldn’t stand it anymore. This is rare for me because I don’t line to abandon a book. Disappointed.

Should be called: “How NOT to be a parent.”

Although this was a well-written story, I was grinding my teeth and growling through most of it. I was raised by an absentee father and a clueless mother, so I have background in this. The narration was great, though.
