Publisher's Summary

The Reef is the story of Tate Beaumont, a beautiful young student of marine archeology - and of Matthew Lassiter, a sea-scarred young man who shares her dream of finding Anguelique's Curse, the jeweled amulet surrounded by legend and said to be long lost at the bottom of the sea.Forced into a reluctant partnership with Matthew and his uncle, Tate soon learns that her arrogant but attractive fellow diver holds as many secrets as the sea itself. And when the truth emerges about the mysterious death of Matthew's father eight years earlier, desire - and danger - begin to rise to the surface.True to form, Nora Roberts offers a story of grand passion and gripping adventure, bringing her devoted fans to the hidden undersea world - and to the deepest parts of the human heart.

Critic Reviews

"The Reef represents Roberts at the top of her form. Not only does the novel have a passionate, compelling love story at its center, but it is rich with intrigue, suspense, and a full complement of fascinating characters." (Library Journal)

My 1st Nora Roberts book.......

This was the 1st book I read by Nora Roberts and I was very pleased with it. I couldn't stop listening.....she captures your mind and fills it with her story. What a great ride this was!

A boring cliche, and disappointment

I'm usually really easy to please, and not a harsh critic, but I totally couldn't get into this book. I'll admit, this was my first attempt at Nora Roberts. Are all her books this way? I love the genre of adventure / romance, which is why I bought this. But I could NOT latch on to the characters at all, and before I knew it they were already "in love", when I didn't think anything had even begun. It felt like I missed something, but I didn't. The Heroine falls for this guy before there is even any build up or anything desirable about him! Very strange. It made it impossible to feel any connection whatsoever.

Maybe it is the narration that I didn't like. It's read very very quickly, with no pause between sentences or phrases, as if she were trying to just get through the thing. Also, the accents just lost me.

I didn't even download the second half of this book. 2 hours in, I give up.
