Publisher's Summary

Determined to prove her worth as a budding archeologist, Genisse Braxton vows to solve one of the world's greatest mysteries - to find the location of the lost city of Zerzura. Unfortunately, no man dares take the risk of escorting the resolute young scholar across the open desert. But on her way to Egypt, Genisse engages in a daring deception - she will switch places with Mildred Whimpelhall, who is traveling to meet her fiancé.
Cynical adventurer Jim Owen will do anything to escape the dark secrets of his troubled past. Betrayed by the woman he loved, scorned by proper society, he agrees to carry out a danger-fraught task: escort Mildred Whimpelhall across a lawless desert to her intended. But Jim is about to learn that "Mildred" isn't exactly what she seems... and the dangers they face together are eclipsed only by an even greater peril: falling in love, against all reason, with another guy's bride.

IT WOULD MAKE A GREAT FILM

What a surprise 'coz I hadn't heard of the writer - but it was an entertaining and funny lighthearted listen that sucks you in from the start - most enjoyable.

Worth a credit? Absolutely YES

Enjoyable for the price

I enjoyed this, but didn't love it. The beginning was slow. The narrator was great except for her male American accent. Her voice shook every time "Jim" spoke.

Lots of chuckling!

I'd be lying if I said this wasn't a little over the top in places. Jim's eye-rolling declarations of love are so out there you can't help but snort or chuckle. Ginesse's propensity for finding trouble is unmatched but Jim's approach to it is often hilarious. Ms Brockway's writing style is like riding gently undulating hills, lots of ups and downs that flow effortlessly from one scene to the next, pulling you along with it. Quite an enjoyable book and really good narration too! Time to see what else she's written...

Don't bother

Gave up halfway through. The heroine is annoying, and so is the actor narrating. She has spoilt many a book for me before. However, in this case I must say I have read much better from this author.
