Publisher's summary

Laurel Barker is a nymph on a mission: find a new home for herself, her lackadaisical dog, and her tree. The free-spirited wood nymph is soul-bound to the tree she saved before it was cut down to make room for a golf course. She hopes that a town full of supernatural folks will be the haven she needs to finally put down roots. Because her tree isn't looking so hot, and if he dies, so does she. It's not a fate she cares to experience, especially after running into the too-hot-to-be-legal police officer in town. No matter how long her life has already been (and it's been long), he has her thinking about the next phase of it and how much fun it could be.

Aiden Morris became a big-city detective to serve and protect, but a soul-crushing accident put an end to his career and sent him running. He finds a level of solace in Nocturne Falls. Being a small-town police officer suits him, and his remote cabin gives him peace, quiet, and a safe place to shift and roam the woods. Life is about as good as he expects it to get. At least, until he meets the nymph next door. He can't stop thinking about her, especially when it seems he may lose her. And when the past comes looking for them, he has to decide whether to keep running or stand by the woman who's planted herself in his heart.

Loved IT!

If you could sum up The Nymph Next Door in three words, what would they be?

Great book! The combination of a nymph, a bear shifter and a talking dog make this a great story!

Loved it

J. L. Farey crafted a delightful story, that left me hoping there would be more to the story. She crafted characters that were well rounded and made you feel like they were friends you wanted to get to know better.

Okay but not the same as original Author

Loved the series from the start but the University series is not the same flavor and not as enticing as the original. quicker listens without the same depth and history.

Underdeveloped

Although this book was a nice story, it was not up to the standard of the other titles in this story line. The characters were underdeveloped with major gaps. More attention was placed on kissing than developing the attraction to get to the kissing. Hunky policeman's story line hinted at a back story why he was no longer a big city detective, but that was never developed. The wood nymph told her hero she was tired of being scared and felt safe with him, but readers were never really told why she was afraid of brought in on those feelings. The bad guy shows up, but no suspicion? No real details to develop fear or sense of danger? No detective sense alerts? Why was she on the run for so many years? The ending just kills the story. I will try not to spoil it, but a character who never had the ability to talk and has no special power to give him that ability suddenly tells the police officer how to save the girl and although he is from America, he has a British accent! Since he is not a shifter or some other magical being, he is never expected to talk again. Like I said the story and characters are very underdeveloped and not up to the quality you would expect in this series and I have read most of the books now. Disappointing, but not total write off.

stopped

I liked it until the very end. I t ended very abruptly. There were way to many questions left unanswered and the mystery of who was answered in one paragraph

Love the Nocturne Falls Universe stories!

This was a cute story, and I am glad it was included in the nocturne Falls universe, but I really wish it was a bit longer. It seemed sort of rushed and not as thorough or complete as I would’ve expected/hoped. Overall, it was a nice short story.
