What a great listen. I loved this book when I read it and loved it even more in audiobook format. This my first time listening to this very British narrator and he really gives an A++ performance. He brought Stephen and Lucien to life. I have read the entire series, so I can't wait to hear more of the MCs adventures with this narrator. As an extra special treat, Book 1.5 is is also included in this audiobook for free. Highly recommend.

I've been waiting for years for this trilogy to come out as audiobooks. Selecting Collins as the narrator was a brilliant stroke and he did a fantastic job. This is hands down one of my favorite stories and I very much enjoyed it in this medium. And now, on the book two.

What made the experience of listening to The Magpie Lord the most enjoyable?
The whole series is wonderful, fresh, finely crafted, but the audio is great the narrator does a fantastic job of briniging the characters to life.
What other book might you compare The Magpie Lord to, and why?
Difficult to say as the series is so unique, but in terms of a book I enjoyed as much...umm, probably Hell and High Water, this impressed me in the same way.
Which scene did you most enjoy?
The dramatic ending, wow. You can feel the tension.
Any additional comments?
Give this a listen, I highly recommend it. Bought the second in the series halfway through this first, but I have been listening to the first pretty much on a loop it’s so good.

I tried to read this book several years ago but there was something about the first chapter that didn't work for me. I'm happy to say that in audio I got past that and am glad I did. The narration was superb and the story itself, highly enjoyable.
I do have one serious gripe though. The book is listed as being 6hrs 27mins long. However, the book is actually less than 6hrs long. I was really annoyed to hear that the first chapters of the next book had been tagged on to the end of the story. Adding chapters of the next book is common in print and ebook, but out of the thousands of audiobooks I've listened to this is the first time I've heard it used. I did not like it at all. It is highly annoying for audio. Audible prices books on length, and the longer a book, the higher the price. This book-length was artificially inflated by adding on chapters of book 2. Also, if I listened to the additional 30 minutes, when purchasing the next book its then a pain to find my place in the story as my MP3 player doesn't play by chapter. I do hope this does not become a trend. It feels like a bit of a con.
