Publisher's summary

In The Unveiling, The Yielding, The Redeeming, and The Kindling, the lives of the formidable Wulfrith family unfold during Duke Henry's battle for the English throne and his succession. The fifth book in the series, The Longing, belongs to the last Wulfrith brother, the enigmatic Sir Everard, and the much maligned Lady Susanna de Balliol.

The one he can never forgive

For years, Lady Susanna de Balliol has borne the blame for betrayal - well-earned, though not as believed by the man she can never forget. Now her nephew must prove his legitimacy or lose his claim to his father's lands. When Susanna is forced to flee with the boy following an attempt on his life, will the one man who knows the truth of her nephew's birth grant them sanctuary within his walls? More, will he aid the woman whom he believes cost him the love of his life?

The one she can never forget

Eleven years - a long time to have loved and lost. Certain he will not love again, Everard Wulfrith has committed his life to the command of Wulfen Castle. But when the girl whose betrayal he can never forgive appears to him as a grown woman and demands he atone for his sins, can he lay bare his past to aid her nephew? And what of his unexpected feelings for the scandalous Susanna de Balliol whose indiscretions may very well put his own to shame?

The Last Brother

I love the story of Everard and Susanna. It is sweet and deep with love, forgiveness and redemption. I loved seeing the Wulfrith family all together as I've grown so fond of them over the years. As always, this was a beautifully written book. And, the narrator is one of a kind. If I had my wish, Judas and Squire Charles would have their own book. Can't you see them growing as close as brothers?

Wonderful addition to this already powerful series.

You've Done It Again, Leigh and Agliotta!

If you could sum up The Longing in three words, what would they be?

Humbling; Changing; Moving!

What did you like best about this story?

It shows how many people blame others for something, perhaps for years, that never happened, and the tremendous load that person might have carried because of the wrongful blame.

Have you listened to any of Mary Sarah Agliotta’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

All of the Age of Faith series, plus three more and this one was just as outstanding as the others. She does an amazing job!

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

Loved when Everard's eyes are opened to himself. I must say, I teared up, and then wished I could have written a few parts of the book :-) I also loved when Everard's brother, Abel, arrives on the scene.

Any additional comments?

Every time I come to audible, which is often, I always look for Tamara Leigh. Her books are clean, enjoyable, and I also look to be sure Mary Sarah Agliotta is the narrarator.

Not as good as the others but close

Still a good story but didn’t enjoy it quite as much as the others in the series. Got a touch whiny in self doubt but did soon change the plot so it was adjusted for before it got to me much.
More drama less battle in this book as well vs the predecessors.

It was okay

The first three books were the best. I felt that this book dragged quite a bit.
