Publisher's summary

Lauren Rutherford knows she is many things: a failed baker, an orphan, and a computer programmer. She also suspects she is ever so slightly nuts given that she often has conversations with her multiple personalities, and Bad Luck is a man who seems to enjoy tormenting her at every opportunity.

What Lauren doesn't know is that she is also a witch. She needs to learn, and fast, because the only thing between her and certain death is Agnes, her long-dead ancestor who has a foul mouth and a passion for G-strings, and Daniel, a sexy as hell male witch who drives her to distraction.

As the last descendant of a long line of witches, Lauren is the victim of a 400-year-old curse. Her life depends on her surviving a challenge set down by three damned souls, a challenge that will take her to hell and back. Literally. And Satan doesn't do tea and scones!

Very steamy sweet read!!

I love the chemistry of all of the characters. The love making was great and the story line was very interesting.

nice story, unappealing narration

I just could not listen to this slow, melodic but so so boring narration. may be great to lul you to sleep, except it kind of angered me too much personally. she has a nice voice, but made situations that were to be energetic and exciting sound boring and irritating.

The Last Challenge Northern Witches, Book 1

Lauren Rutherford just found out she's a witch--the hard way. First there's a hunky guy she's noticed at two places where she goes. At a party she tries to help a friend and when she goes outside to follow another friend, she's taken by the hunky guy. Then she's introduced to an ancestor grandmother who's a ghost. When she tries to explain to her bestie later her friend thinks she's going nuts. Now she has to learn how to be a witch, since she's discovered she's a natural witch. Her friend is along for the ride and the hunky guy is driving her crazier.
Fantastic story! Julia Anthony is a fantastic narrator and she draws you in to the storyline. I loved the accent too!!

loved it!😍

It is very entertaining! The characters are pretty interesting. The story is nice fun to listen to. How the narrator did the main males voice kept making me crack up. 😁

Narration distracting

This narrator did NOT help the story at all. It is difficult to understand when one sentence ends and another begins. Similarly, there is about the same transition between words in the same sentence, one sentence to another, and even one scene to another. Frequently, I couldn't tell if I had inadvertently skipped several seconds of listening time as I would find myself in another scene, even days later in the story line. This makes the book feel disjointed. The story line was already blah so the narration (maybe the directing of the narration?) did nothing to help.

At the end I wanted to "gently" rip my hair out

Would you listen to another book narrated by Julia Anthony?

As lovely as the young Lady doubtlessly is, after a while the accent just drives you a bit bonkers and not in the fun way. So no probably not.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

She "gently" drove you to insanity

Any additional comments?

Yes and that will sound harsh, but if you insist on writing long drawn out sex scenes, could you please learn another word to describe the sexual activity happening than "gently"? Within the span of about 5 minutes it was used more than 30 times. No woman in her right mind wants to be that gently sexed, well maybe a virgin on her first time. But for passionate encounters not so much.
I liked the story idea overall, some parts are just harder to get through then others. I gave up and left the last 17 minutes unlistened too and fast forwarded through several spots.
Good try so, keep writing.

It could have been Great

The narration is awful, dry as a bone, If you can get past the Narrator, It’s a good story, that is really hard though I just forced myself to keep at it and finally the story grabbed my attention.
