Publisher's summary

Solene Marchand, the 39-year-old owner of an art gallery in Los Angeles, is reluctant to take her daughter, Isabelle, to meet her favorite boy band. But since her divorce, she's more eager than ever to be close to Isabelle. The last thing Solene expects is to make a connection with one of the members of the world-famous August Moon.

But Hayes Campbell is clever, winning, confident, and posh, and the attraction is immediate. That he is all of 20 years old further complicates things. What begins as a series of clandestine trysts quickly evolves into a passionate and genuine relationship. It is a journey that spans continents as Solene and Hayes navigate each other's worlds: from stadium tours to international art fairs to secluded hideaways in Paris and Miami.

For Solene, it is a reclaiming of self, as well as a rediscovery of happiness and love. When Solene and Hayes's romance becomes a viral sensation, and both she and her daughter become the target of rabid fans and an insatiable media, Solene must face how her romantic life has impacted the lives of those she cares about most.

Contains mature themes.

Fantasy meets Reality

I have so many thoughts about The Idea of You. I am not even sure where to begin. First off, can we all take a moment to appreciate how incredible this cover is? This book has created quite the buzz in the book world, especially in the romance genre. Robinne Lee was a new-to-me name, but this book came highly recommended by some of my most favorite writers. I put full trust in their opinions and blindly dove in. I was shocked to find out this was Lee’s debut novel because it was so well written. Even more so because she did an absolutely fantastic job narrating the audible version. Her acting skills were evident as she brought the characters and their emotions to life. The Idea of You is the perfect marriage of the fantasies of my tweenage self with the realities of my adult self. I was always dreaming that it would only take one look for Jordan Knight or Justin Timberlake to notice me and from there, we would live happily ever after. Although after reading this, I am a little relived they never panned out. Solene is a 39 year old woman who escorted her 12 year old daughter and friends to an August Moon concert, which also included a backstage Meet and Greet. She happens to catch the eye of 20 year old Hayes Campbell, who is a member of the oh-so-popular boy band. Their May-December romance began with lust at first sight, but morphed into a love beyond their physical chemistry. Hayes Campbell. My God. He was wooing me right along with Solene. He has many different sides to him, but my favorite is his romantic one. Unfortunately this relationship did not come without its hardships. There is the age difference, their responsibilities, his celebrity status and crazed fans, social media and the need for personal and professional acceptance. Beyond the relationship between Hayes and Solene, I loved the relationship between Solene and her daughter. There were certain characters and references that I would have liked more elaboration, but ultimately it ended the way it was supposed to (Unless there is another book in progress, which I am more than okay with). I understand why people may not like the ending. But I did. It was raw and it was real. It is easy to get lost in the pages, so it would make a great summer/vacation/beach read!

Robinne Lee, the author, narrates this beautifully crafted romance. She does a tremendous job with the various character accents, and emotionally, pulls at your every heart string. I have the utmost respect for Lee's written and oral storytelling. I absolutely loved listening to this book!!!

Sequel Please!!

Wonderful audio book! I hope the author writes a sequel because the main character’s story doesn’t seem complete.

Cheesy, but okay

I ALMOST returned this, but didn’t. The reviews were so good! Fun story, albeit not believable. Very name droppy, label- whore main character. Gratuitous sex scenes got super repetitive towards the end.
The ending WAS terrible in my opinion, just like so many other reviewers noted. Why end the book like that? We were all invested in these characters!
The bright spot was the narration. Perfect voice which made the story bearable.
I bought it on sale, so I’m not mad about wasting a precious credit.

Horribly cheesy romance novel

I love a good romance every now and then and with the stellar reviews of The Idea of You I had high hopes. Imagine if the lead singer of One Direction took a fancy to you and you started a hot affair? What could be better... Wrong! Utterly predictable and implausible, I just couldn't get lost in the story the way I wanted to and ended up giving up about 1/2 way through.

Fifty Shades of Hayes

Ok, ok so there isn’t a torture love chamber. But there is a lot of sex. First a disclaimer, romance/fantasy is not my preferred genre. I typically gravitate to mystery/thrillers. So I am basing my review with that in consi

There is a deeper message, please don't miss

Other than the warnings about this books being a cheesey romance (I've read Uber cheesy and I don't think this is it actually) and the gratuitous sex scenes (not as gratuitous compared to some) I think many of the reviews miss a smaller message. Older women DO get overlooked. if this was about a May December romance where the man was December, and trust me there are many of those types of romances both in books and real life, it would be a non issue. Boring. On par. But I liked that she went for it. As a mom, a divorcee, someone not 23 anymore, she's still a woman with feelings and desires. We often overlook these feelings and desires because we put out children, careers, aging parents and all around daily responsibilities first often losing who we once were
