Publisher's summary

Join retired Amish newlyweds Emma and Lamar Miller in Florida for the winter as they lead another quilting class with a new group of unlikely students: Jennifer, a pregnant new mom; Mike, a charter boat owner; Erika, a wheelchair bound teen; Kim, a waitress; Noreen, a newly retired widow; and BJ, an artist facing illness. When old friends visit from Indiana, will romance also become a subject of class discussions?

Good story - reader, not so good

How did the narrator detract from the book?

Her attempt to do male voices is really rough..they all sound somewhat like an Eeyore type character.

Any additional comments?

Story is good!

Narrator is Distracting Story is Uplifting

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

I would recommend the book, but not the audiobook. It is poorly narrated and I really dislike the music at the beginning of each chapter. Somehow, just seems hokie.

Who was your favorite character and why?

I love Emma, she is a kind gentle lady who truly exemplifies Christ love for others.

Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Judith West?

ANYONE.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

No

Enjoyable

Loved the story and the teaching of quilting bringing all walks of like together. Emma and her husband were used by God to help and influence many to seek Him in all their lives.

Bad Narration/Good Story

Where does The Healing Quilt rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

I liked the book but ended up reading over half of it and only listening in the car. The narrator is bad, I will not buy any more books with this narrator. Her voice does not lend itself to the characters and makes the book not enjoyable but irritating.

Healing

This was a wonderful book encompassing the characters life struggles and vividly portraying the emotions of each one while interacting with each other, learning about themselves, and learning how to care for others. Loved how the author captivates the reader into those poignant emotions and how she intertwines the prior books' characters in this series with the current ones. Excellent read; thought provoking.

Quilts and life lessons

This is the third book in the quilting series. Emma and Lamar met after their spouses died. They found each other in their older age and have enjoyed teaching six week courses in quilting, teaching those who God brings to them. Because of Lamar's arthritis, they've taken a house in Florida for the cold winter, away from their Indiana Amish community.

In this book, the class consists of a sullen 14 year old who is paralyzed in her legs because of a diving accident, a young pregnant woman whose husband has just lost his job, an older artist who wants to paint the ocean before he dies from cancer, a busy charter boat owner, a lonely waitress, and a newly retired widowed teacher. Their lives are impacted by a visiting motorcyclist who was in the previous quilting class in Indiana.

This is a relationship book that shows how listening and trusting God helps people with their life issues. Very reaffirming and interesting story lines. I've thoroughly enjoyed all three quilting class books!

I enjoyed this story very much. It is the third in the series. Only thing I didn't like was some if the male voices & and the music at the end of each chapter.
