Publisher's Summary

In the war between heaven and hell, a special race of humans with supernatural abilities will represent the balance between darkness and light. They are known as The Guardians.
Jack Bennett comes from a long line of Guardians, a fact that has been drummed into him since he was a kid. When he and a select group of elite Guardians are called upon by the Archangel Michael to complete a special assignment, Jack gladly accepts. Seven years later a failing mission and personal losses have left him jaded, bitter, and without room for love or relationships in his life.
The past that Addison Monroe is so desperately trying to escape is one she can't outrun. The darkness inside that causes her to act unpredictably has gone unexplained until now. A woman claiming to be an angel appears with a revelation that will shake Addison to her core: her dark nature is explained as Addison discovers that she is one of the Nephilim - a child born of a human mother and demon father.
Despite the dark nature she was born with, Addison has been chosen by heaven for a special purpose. Ten scrolls spelled to open up portals between hell and Earth; 10 demons who are using them to come and go from Earth at will, a violation of the terms set by heaven in the battle for souls; and one demon, known as the Great Duke of Hell, who will stop at nothing to defeat her. Fighting alongside two Guardians, Addison must uncover the legendary Seal of Solomon - a ring that is said to possess the power to destroy demons - and wield it against the enemies of heaven.
As his task to protect her develops into something more, Jack will find separating his job from his personal life nearly impossible. Ignoring the dangers of becoming too attached, Jack will find that a woman whose very nature should repulse him might just be his saving grace.

** I was given a free copy of this book in exchanged for an honest review **

I honestly loved sucked me in from the very beginning and I couldn't put this down! I listened to it all at once and can not wait for the next one!

This is about the war between good and evil to start with...Mainly about a girl named Addison who is stripping her way through college and has always been a little bit different....she has a very dark inner monologue and has never known why....Then we have Jack and Micah who are guardians who protect the children of angels called nephlum...Well Addison is one of these children...and she does not accept this easily....there is a bit of fighting, and a nice love story to go along with everything else and it ends on a little cliffhanger.....Thoroughly enjoyed it!!! 2 thumbs up!!!!

A great take on demon/angel wars

Would you listen to The Guardians: The Guardians, Book 1 again? Why?

Yes, I really enjoyed the narrator and his characterization. There are quite a few characters each with their own backstory that the author integrates seamlessly. I would listen again to pick up any nuances that I may have missed.

What other book might you compare The Guardians: The Guardians, Book 1 to and why?

The Vesik series is similar as well as the Quincy Harker series. Both deal with demon/angel struggles or possible apocalyptic situations.

What does Henry McNulty bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

He gives life to the male characters and is quite good with regional accents. He creates great distinction between the characters that adds to the story. His voice is very emotive helps with the feeling of each scene.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

The sacrifices made by each of the main characters and the depth of emotions each displayed in the big 10 battle.
