Publisher's summary

Grateful Knight isn’t looking for love when she moves into a rent-free house on the edge of a graveyard. At 22, all she wants is to recover financially so she can move back to the city where she belongs. But sparks fly when the gorgeous cemetery caretaker, Rick, introduces himself and mentions his suspicion that her new house might be haunted. Her attraction to him seems supernatural, and, despite her resolve not to get involved, she literally can’t keep her hands off him.

When things in Grateful’s house start moving on their own, another man enters her life - Logan, a sexy ghost with a dark secret. He says Rick isn’t what he seems, and indulging her passion for him could cost her soul. One thing’s for sure: Magical forces are at work in the tiny town of Red Grove, and they’re converging on Grateful. Life will never be the same once she's forced to choose between the ghost and the graveyard.

This Could Have Been Better

The narration was good but the story was kind of thin. Grateful and crew needed more depth to their characters. I want to be sucked into a story and believe the unbelievable. I was just left waiting...

Riveting!

Grateful Knight (I would have hated to be her in school. What a name.) is a nurse. Due to her ex-boyfriend conning her out of all her money, she moves into a house her father, a real estate professional owns, but hasn't been able to sell. Pros: It's thirty minutes from work, rent's free, and a super yummy caretaker lives just across the bridge. Cons: The caretaker is for the cemetery that bumps up to her back-yard. But then, what's a ghost or two.

While the narrator did a fairly decent job he was lacking in the accent department. Especially with Rick. Grateful thinks that he has a sexy Spanish accent, but if she hadn't mentioned it, I would have though it was Nordic. And it changes, never being consistent. Otherwise the narrator does fine with the rest, and has a pleasant voice to listen to.

The story itself was engaging, and kept me guessing. The worldbuiling was well done and the characters were my favorite. Varied and interesting.

I look forward to reading more by this author and in this series, but I think the next one I'll do as an ebook. Either way I do recommend this book to anyone who likes a good paranormal ghost/witch/shifter/vampire story.

Really good paranormal book

This is so good that I had to read it all night. Quirky nurse meets gorgeous guy, love scene in the mysterious graveyard and witchy powers all await you in this book.

Magical Beginnings

This is a story with lots of action and big reveals. Grateful thins she’s living and ordinary life but it all changes in an instant. Be aware that this story ends with many things unresolved. But if you like witches, vampires, and zombies you will really enjoy this story. I listened to the audio version and it was great experience. #CMCon24

What a hilarious ride!

This is the first time I've read or listened to any of this authors stories and will not be the last. This book had me rolling in laughter. Grateful is a young woman with bad taste and luck with men. The last boyfriend somehow drove her into deep debt so she moves into an old house of her dad's, something he inherited. The rent is free but with that is a catch. The back yard is a graveyard!

Almost immediately she meets Rick the caretaker who is hunky and lives next door. She also meets a couple of ghosts living in her house. Logan, one of the ghosts is hot and a great cook who makes her morning coffee. There's also a locked room in the house. Grateful grows more curious about the room and the tidbits she'd getting from Rick and the ghosts who coincidentally don't necessarily like each other so she pursues the mystery which leads to secrets about herself.

I absolutely loved the author's voice. She adds little antidotes that made the story memorable. I'm not a fan at all of romance but the humor, coupled with the mystery and paranormal had me glued. I started it in the car on my way to work and was so involved I continued listening while I worked. I couldn't put it down. The narrator was perfect for the character. Her voice was also clear and she used excellent pacing and inflection.

Through and through a wonderful, hilarious story!

I didn't want it to end

I usually read sci-fi and fantasy. This is a fantasy/romance. Once you take the initial leap into the world of witches, vampires and shape changers, the story stays consistent. If you are a nurse you may be appalled by the character's (who is a nurse) behaviour.

Very little violence (human vs. supernatural being) and mild suspense. Overall it is a fun story with lots of passionate sex.

Reminds me of J Frost series.

I love the night huntress series and this has a similar feel. I want to see more development of the male characters but I really love who Grateful is. Another comparison is that it is H. O. T. Yep sinfully hot. This is my first read with the narrator too but she did a great job. It was fluid with out getting monotone and she got the male voices right with out sounding strained. Can't wait to start the next book.

Amazing read, can't wait to read the next one.

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

I would definitely recommend this book to everyone who loves any type of paranormal book.

Who was your favorite character and why?

I love the main charactor, Grateful, because she is so unexpectedly familiar. It's like talking with your friends over coffee.

Any additional comments?

While the plot was sketchy but picked up in later chapters. With a bit of sadness, the book finished, but the sadness was because the story had ended. I cannot wait to get ahold of the next book in the series.

Great story line

A very enjoyable story line with a good mix of hot, spicy and supernatural all in one.
