He's super rich, gorgeous, sexy, muscled and charming but the one thing he's not is naive about love.... nope, he's been there done that and got the heartbreaking memories to prove it - so, for Jarred Sinclair, love doesn't exist. Even when he becomes obsessed with the lovely Dollmaker Mara he still treats it as a casual fling, a one maybe two or possibly three time thing but that was going to be it.... no getting attached, no wanting a relationship and definitely no long-term commitments.... but underneath this facade was a tormented soul.
However, as soon as the sweet but lonely Mara gives in to Jarred's charms and dirty talk something clicks and everything seems right and light in his world.... except he's still haunted by actions in his past that he just can't overcome. But Mara sees that this charming, thoughtful and beautiful man is vulnerable, sensitive and he's just been used in his past relationships for his money whereas she not interested in how wealthy he is, no she just wants to do things for him, spoil him, love him so it's his heart that Mara wants. She wasn't going to fall for this roguish Playboy but he was constantly helping her, advising her, supported her business decisions, he was a very skilled and talented lover and a good friend. Jarred quickly became very needy, eager for Mara's affections and wanted a future with her so he showed his deep and caring side in reverent words, thoughtful deeds and smouldering sex. Then, after bearing his soul by sharing his secrets to Mara, he finally started to open up and forgive himself but it wasn't until he thought he was losing Mara that love finally stood a chance to move in.
The drama in this listen was more emotional and about opening up to feelings and taking tentative steps in their relationship rather than dramatic scenes but there were a few lighthearted arguments, a life threatening fire, tears, joy, heartbreak, a terrible revelation by Hope and an overheard secret threatened their happy relationship. Jarred had a dirty mouth and was a dirty talker which Mara loved and there were lots of sexy scenes too. You could feel the love and tight bonds that all the Sinclair siblings had for one another and their partners too. Dual POV's and a narrator whose wonderful vocal skills brought this up to a 5 star listen.
Worth a credit? This light, sickly sweet, entertaining and enjoyable listen had humor, passion, lots of smoking sex, loveable characters, emotional turmoil, passion, romance and a few arguments causing bumps in the road to their beautiful love story. And all this was just $7.34 so no need for me to use a credit on it because I just buy a book if it's under $10 saving the credit for a costlier (but maybe not as enjoyable) listen but I would have gladly used a credit on this and been very happy. I'm now eagerly looking forward to the all knowing, arrogant, broody, moody, secretive and stern Evan's story next because he's going to be a hard nut to crack.

All the billionaire books are basically the same. The characters change and the story line differs a little. Other than that, they are identical. Time to find a new author.
