Publisher's summary

England, 1819. The earl of Amhurst has returned to his estate in search of a wife and, more importantly, an heir. Simon Devere isn't interested in some comely, simpering creature. A beautiful woman brings only heartbreak and ruin, and Simon's disfigured visage is proof enough of that. No, he wants a wife who is unattractive and undesirable - and the homelier, the better.

But nothing about Lady Henrietta Beauchamp is homely. She is lovely and sweet and struggles to mix with polite society when she would so much rather have plants for company. And yet Simon is her only hope for keeping Plumburn Castle in her family's possession, even if it means marrying a man she doesn't love.

It's an impossible and unlikely match unless this awkward beauty can bring hope back into a solitary beast's life.

I love Alison Larkin and the story was fun

Love between two flawed but loving people who did not know what they were looking for until they found each other. I don't understand why the narrator has bad reviews, I love her reading. I forget I'm listening and just get into the story when she reads. The story was entertaining, and since it's in the escape package, a real bargain. If you are looking for a light fun read, check this one out.

narrator horrible

Book is good, but the narrator sounds like the simmering young girls of the ton. I had to resort back to reading instead of listening. I couldn't get that blasted voice out of my head.

No Bargain

Moved very slowly and I didn't like the narrator. The story wasn't a good one. Don't waste your money on this.
