Oliver York returns from war to find his father dead, his finances in arrears, and himself the new Earl of Carlisle. If he doesn't marry an heiress - and fast! - he and his tenants are going to be pitching tents down by the Thames. He definitely shouldn't be trading kisses with a penniless debutante...no matter how captivating she is!
Miss Grace Halton is in England just long enough to satisfy the terms of her dowry. But a marriage of convenience isn't as easy as she'd hoped. Back in America, her ailing mother needs medicine only Grace's dowry can afford. Which means the dashing earl she can't get out of her mind is the one man she can't let into her heart.

Loving this series
I read book 1 (The Viscount's Christmas Temptation) prior to this one, and I am loving this series so far.
Grace comes to England from Pennsylvania hoping to find a husband, secure her dowry from her grandparents, and use the money to help her sick mother back home. Oliver returns home from war to find he is the new Duke of Carlisle since his father's death, and his household is in disarray. The two take a liking to each other, but their financial situations aren't ideal for marrying each other.
I really enjoyed the development of the main characters' relationship. It felt really quick, but it's also a very short novel. The one thing I didn't like was how neatly everything was wrapped up at the end...it's a lovely happily-ever-after, but it was a little too perfect and convenient. I would have loved to see the ending more fleshed-out (with the added bonus of having a longer story to read).
I received a free copy in exchange for an honest review.
