Publisher's summary

From USA Today best-selling author Elisabeth Grace comes her most suspenseful, sexy, and thrilling books yet!

Hook, Book One

Women loathed me without even knowing my name. Men coveted the very idea of me. Escort. Call girl. Prostitute. Hooker. Whore. I'd heard it all. Done it all. Over the years, I'd felt a lot of things about my occupation...but not regret - never regret. I had my reasons for doing what I did, and nothing and no one had ever made me question them.

Until Marco Valenti. He'd changed me, and I'd naively fed into the fairy tale. But Marco wasn't my Prince Charming. He had secrets of his own. Secrets that would eventually rip away everything I held dear.

Burn, Book Two

The stunning conclusion to the Duplicity Duet from USA Today best-selling author Elisabeth Grace.

"No." One word. Two letters. But those two letters changed everything. It was impossible to predict the impact I would have on the life of the only woman I'd ever truly loved. No way to know that I would result in her ruin. I'd suffer for eternity with the knowledge that it was me who brought devastation to her doorstep.

Though I deserved the anguish I felt, to see her suffer was unacceptable. I would fix this. Somehow I would prove to her that I wasn't the monster she thought I was. Even if it meant becoming a monster in order to make that happen.

light in the darkness 🕯

Emily "AKA Brandi" a prostitute raising her special need's son Daniel meets the love of her life and her worst nightmare rolled into one.
With dreams far bigger than what she's doing, a mysterious dominant gentleman comes into her life.
The chemistry between these two is hot!!
What I didn't expect was the friendship that formed and the way Marco starts to care about Daniel.
That's when Brandi's ❤ gets turned upside down.
Things are going great until Marco's haunting past throws Brandi in the crossfire.
This story is filled with drama, hurt, danger, anger and of course love.
This romance is very unconventional.
Half way through I thought, there's no way this can have a HEA ending...
Thankfully I was wrong 😊
Trusts will be broken, lies will be told, murder plots made, all while not everyone is who they appear to be.
The sex scenes vary as well.
What happens between Marco and Brandi
had sparks flying.
But some of the tricks were fairly disgusting.
But in the seedy world of the sex industry undesirable acts are a part of the job.
The narration was phenomenal considering the amount of emotional depth these characters go through.
This was not only worth the credit but, completely unpredictable.

Fun bit of fantasy

I appreciated the positive approach to sex work.

She was aware of what she was doing, she didn’t hate herself for it, and had an exit plan.

I’ve seen some negative reviews comparing it to Pretty Woman, so what? It was an angsty version of that. Marco had a pragmatic view of how she chose to make money.

There was intrigue and heart break. I cried in a few parts. I felt the soul shattering grief, and could empathize with her choices. We got vulnerability from a number of characters.

I didn’t love the Italian accent. They should have had him speak in his regular voice, but I could ignore it.
I truly enjoined this one.

A good weekend book

The story was good and keeps you listening. Although it is predictable, it wasn't boring. Both narrators are great, but both could work on their accents. The male sounds like the Count from Sesame Street (and slips back to his american accent at the end of some sentences). The females accent, only used when speaking as the male, is less hysterical, but it also sounds like it is half Italian and half russian.

All and all, it was a good read and 2 books for 1 credit is always a good deal.

Trigger warning for sexual abuse, domestic violence, etc.

LOVED IT !!! WORTH FIVE CREDIT!!!

Any additional comments?

I really appreciate that this is one complete series for one credit. I would have paid two. 🤗This is definitely a hot listen just as I like them but it is also a great story of love, happiness and a young man with the heart of a man. The narration grew on me because I didn't think it would be good at the beginning but it turn out to be excellent. When you think the story is over the author gives you two more eventful hours. Loved it ❤️❤️❤️❤️

I LOVED IT.. EVERY BEAUTIFUL BRUTAL BOUNTIFUL WORD

Ok so Brandi (aka Emily) isn't your usual heroine.. but, in my eyes, she was everything a heroine should be and much more.. because yes, now she was a high-end Vegas Escort but she'd gotten pregnant and kicked out at sixteen so waitressed to keep her baby son. A son, who over the years, grew into a much cherished special needs nine yr old and Emily, the strong and loving Mother that she was, had done what was necessary.. pulled her big girl panties up and, at night, wore lace ones instead as Brandi the much sought after Prostitute. And it's at one such 'engagement' that she meets the handsome, uber sexy, charming yet mysterious and irresistible Italian businessmen Marco Valenti who wined and dined Brandi, took her out, treated her like something precious and, for the first time, made her come alive in bed.

Marco became Brandi's exclusive client, knew her real name and they lowered defences and slowly fell in love.. although the mutual chemistry, attraction and desire had been instant. But the charming gentleman/broody alpha Marco had secrets and, because of him, one of those secrets was threatening Emily's life - so, being the loving caring man he was, Marco didn't hesitate to protect both her and her son.. and a tentative family unit was starting to form. However Marco's enemies were very determined, very sneaky and very shady and managed to....... well sorry you'll have to listen to find out - but I will say after the word "no" was reluctantly uttered everything from then on went to Hell.. and the fall out was dramatic and changed everything.

And I'm so glad that I didn't have to wait for book 2 at this point because the cliffhanger was brutal.. and wow book two was everything book one was not.. I'm not going to give anything away but trust me it was dramatic, heavy, heartbreaking, chilling, tense, angst-ridden and so so much more. Marco and Emily finally get a wonderful happy ending.. but their journey was the Space Mountain of rollercoasters.. a ride I wasn't about to get off, a ride I thoroughly enjoyed, a ride that had it's fair share of hot sex, a ride that shook me to my core with the suspense and revenge, a ride that brought strong multi-layered characters and honed them into hardened weapons, a ride that I stopped/started to savor the journey.. and a ride that I'll never forget.

Worth a credit? Oh yeah and then some! This riveting story started out being told from Emily/Brandi's POV but in book 2 it switches to dual POV and the talented narrators brought a well written, well paced intense book to life with the varied accents, the drama, the danger, the heat, the hurt, the turmoil, the twists and the passion all expertly captured making listening to this bountiful brutal beautiful story a very intoxicating and rewarding experience.

Exceptional accidental find!!!

This duet came up in my search feed for a different book. The author and the narrators were all new to me but I am a sucker for a dark twisted tale and I was intrigued so I decided to give it a try.

First off- to the reviewers that said this was "too dark," "too much," and more..I was tempted to tag your reviews as helpful, bc that solidified my decision to buy. In the end, I didn't tag them, bc I did not want to affect this author's work negatively for other readers.

The story is very well written for a debut! There are multiple twists, suspense, secrets, and intensely hot scenes that are paced well. I fell in love with the main and supporting characters immediately. The MCs are well developed. You learn about them as they are learning about each other.

I had initial concerns about the narration, but after a few chapters I realized it was going to work. The delivery fit the characters back story. It's not duet narration (my preference), but at times, it's actually hard to tell it wasn't the male narrator speaking and vice versa.
Well done all around! This will be a future repeat read for me. I'm glad I found it and I will look for more work from this author.

NOTE TO SHOPPERS- if you are easily triggered this won't be for you. But if you enjoy dark and twisted, this should be an easy one-click!
