A tough-as-nails businesswoman. An arrogant Navy SEAL. A power struggle with no end in sight.
Some people hook up at weddings. Others break a hotel room bed (and a table, and a desk, and some complimentary bathrobe belts) and discover they've been surviving on bargain basement orgasms their entire lives.
The last one? Yeah. That's all me.
She's driven and demanding.
I wasn't always a bitch. There's a dirty little trick to succeeding in business: the sweet and innocent rarely survive. I fought my way up from nothing, and I don't bend for anyone.
Until Will Halsted ties me to a headboard and makes me his, for now.
One wild, filthy night turns into another, and then we can't stop. Each time we're together is more addictive than the last, but it's nothing more than a sexy escape from reality.
Or is it?
He's never walked away from a challenge.
I wasn't always a warrior, but now it's in my bones and blood. That's what years spent in the Special Forces does to a man. My entire life is classified - where I've been, what I've seen, what I've done - and there's no mission too dangerous.
Until I realize that falling for Shannon Walsh is like trying to swim against a riptide. She's going to tear me up and toss me to the shore, and I'll love every minute of it.
Every time I'm downrange, I want her counting the hours until I'm back. Waiting for me. She's done it before; she'll do it again.
Or will she?
They're wrong for each other in every possible way.
Or are they?

Hot and Steamy with Sass and Heart!!!
I actually read the book first and was eagerly waiting for this to come out as an audiobook. I read it when it first came out, so it had been a while and while I remembered the bigger points the rest was more fresh. It's a really funny and sweet book. I found myself laughing out loud a lot.
I loved both of the main characters. Shannon is a strong and independent person and in charge of the chaos around her. She is the cornerstone of her family, the second oldest of 6, and makes sure that everything is taken care of and running smoothly both professionally and personally in her family. She is he alpha is her world...but so is Will and seeing them interact together is magical. Will is a Navy SEAL and is somehow both strong and tender, and not in a cheesy way either. He's a dirty talker and knows what he wants, and that's Shannon.
Christian Fox and Lucy Rivers did an amazing job! They made me smile and laugh a lot, and brought these characters to life in the best way possible - they each had the voice of the character. Christian Fox as Will had to be my favorite though - he is one of my favorite performers.
I did listen to it all in one sitting - - and it was amazing.
This is the fourth book in the Walsh Series, but it really can be a standalone. Its timeline interacts with the other books in the series, as the first part of the book is done in the past tense (15 months ago. 11 months ago. Etc.) then it jumps to the present. Will and Shannon meet at their siblings Lauren (Will's sister) and Matt's (Shannon's brother) wedding. Lauren asks Shannon to keep Will busy and not out of her sight. Their banter back and forth is hilarious and it's not long until sparks fly.
Will is a Navy SEAL and is gone doing different things for the military. Shannon is a lawyer, but works for her family's architecture firm where she manages everything from the buying of properties to permits and dry cleaning and doctor appointments. Will and Shannon are able to meet up for a few days at a time in different locations, as both of their schedules will allow, but talk and text frequently. One of the funniest scenes comes when Shannon asks Will what he's doing and he says he's training new SEALs and she refers to them from that point on as baby seals.
This book is very steamy! But the sex scenes are great, and it's balanced out with a great story line, funny banter and a lot of heart. (And Will is always very comically using his military skills on Shannon in unsuspecting ways!) It's got a lot of family in it is as well. If you've read or listened to the other books in the series you get more of the Walshes! If not, you're not going to be lost and it's a great introduction to them. Both characters are realistic and substantial. It's actually my personal favorite of the series, while the other ones are really good there's that 'something' that puts it above the rest for me. I HIGHLY recommend it!
