Publisher's summary

Acclaimed for her moving depictions of interracial love, best-selling author Sandra Kitt delivers a passionate and provocative tale of modern romance.

An artist trapped in an unfulfilling relationship, Leah Downey wants more out of life. But she plays it safe, never venturing too far from her comfort zone... not since the night she was mugged at knifepoint. Beginning a relationship with a perfect stranger is completely out of character for Leah. But something about Jason Horn strikes a chord deep within her. They couldn’t be more different. Jason is white, a streetwise New York cop haunted by his own demons. He’s stunned by his instant attraction to this vibrant black woman who arouses both desire and his fiercest protective instincts.

I first read this story when I was a teenager and was the very first interracial romance I ever read. I loved it then and now that I have had much more life experience love it even more.

Wow!

This was an absolutely awesome story. The story makes you look at your own prejudices and think twice about what you say, do, and how you believe.

eh

story was so drawn out about nothing. the love scenes were boring. the lead character was such a pushover. she had no voice. they couple was so extra with the interracial emotional drama with one another for what I would say we're minor issues, at least for the woman. you would think she was threatened or something based on how dramatic she was about the racial issues.

LOVE HAS NO COLOR!

This was a pleasant story based in my hometown of New York City. they come from very different backgrounds. there are an interracial couple in New York City which shouldn't be a problem.he's a cop and all of the racial tensions in the city between cops the public start to interfere with there relationship. The narrator sounds pleasant.

Oh my goodness ...Tear Jerker

This book was so very good I can't even explain. I'm in tears right now. As a black women married happily to a white male this just touched my heart.
It is so very nice to read a story about a subject so close to my heart.
This read was hard from a racial stand and must have been set in the late eighties or early nineties based on the references of the Vietnam War.
So I imagine things were slightly harder for interracial couples. But the fundamental issues are still there and I love overcomes and remains colorblind

Good concept. Too much social justice warrior

It took me a while to decide to listen this book. I am a black woman who has dated outside of her race most of my life. I wanted it to be book about an awakening of the black woman and making her choices NOT based upon the thoughts and actions of the black community. Sadly it was not. From the acceptance of her sister to the hesitation of what people "will think"? I think black women have had enough of that rhetoric. It was an OK listen for me but did like the main characters.

Jason, Leah & Everybody Else

I really wanted to like this book but it did nothing but p*ss me off. Leah was a idiot. First her "loving" sister(Gail) got with what was supposed to be Leah's man (Alan) & what did Leah do or say-NOT MUCH! I have no sisters but I have female cousins & we have an unspoken rule: WE DON"T MESS WITH EACH OTHERS BOYFRIENDS OR EXES! While I know forgiveness is required, first comes some consequences. There were none for Gail & Alan. As far as the outside bigots & naysayers, neither Leah or Jason really stood up to them. Gail was a real piece of work: take your sister's man & then have a opinion & problem with the new man. Even Alan (the cheating ex) had an opinion. Spano the loudmouth racist policeman was the only one who got a little something back for his attitude.Even the town slut & the town thug had an opinion. By the end of the book I was ready to slap the taste out of somebody's mouth. I had to borrow this book twice to finish it. I got to chapter 4 the first time & had to quit .A year & a half later I finally muddled through.

Good

I really liked this book and would recommend this book. I wish this author didn't use God's name in vain. You don't have to use " GD " to have a good book. I would have given it 5 stars if not for that. I didn't like how Leah let her sister and Allen basically run over her with their betrayal. What year was it 1920-1940's? For Leah and Jason to face all the prejudices with being an interracial couple. That part of the story threw me for a loop. I thought the author went a bit to much on that and how Leah was treated by her sister. I wish this book was a movie.

What a waste of time!

I would advise the author not to write anymore romances. She would do better to write English textbooks. After I struggled thru the first six chapters I had to quit. The book is very flat and unrealistic. I can't even tell that Leah is black. She seems white in character. She is week, clueless and spineless. T is clear to me that the author needs to do more research on subject and the personality of her characters.

Why

The story line reminds me of 1960. Sisters who have problems like that would not be together.
I'm almost speechless.
