Publisher's summary

Any couple who spends the night in the Christmas cottage shall have love everlasting....

Lacey Quinn did not believe in happily ever after or the legend of the Christmas cottage. As maid of honor for her best friend, Ava, her duties included decorating the cottage for the newlyweds. It was a simple enough task, but she hadn't counted on sexy Ean Callahan, the bride-to-be's brother, assisting her. Spending the evening ensconced in the overly romantic setting while a blizzard howls outside has Lacey wondering if fairy tales really do come true....

Bad book and bad narration..

OK, I read The Bramble House Christmas then watched the Hallmark movie made from the book. Needless to say the book was much better. Now, I’ve read this one and can only hope that the movie is better than the book was. The book was just 167 pages of fluff.

Lacey had been in love with Ean since she was 14 and he was 18. She kissed him and told him that she loved him and he pretty much asked her if she was crazy, that she was just a kid. So, she ran out and didn’t see him again for 12 years.

They met again at the Christmas Cottage and fell in love. That’s about it.

There were a few kisses and the bedrooms scenes were fade-to-black.

As to the narration: Stephanie Willis was okay with the female voices, which you’d expect, and her emotions were good BUT her voice for Ean totally sucked. She really needs to take some lessons from some of wonderful female narrators that are out there and learn to deepen her voice. Until she gets better I do not want to listen to her again. Sorry.

Meh

The whole premise is a little too unbelievable, even for Christmas. But I was going along with the whole thing until ... [SPOILER ALERT - just in case you have a less-than-room-temperature IQ and don't figure out the ending by chapter 2] the wedding with no marriage license.

It's mostly just too, too precious.

Love can happen when you least expect it!

The Christmas Cottage was a really enjoyable story about two people that were family friends who find love again while preparing a cottage for Ian's sister. Things will start to heat up between Lacey and Ian. Will it be enough to stay together and realize it's true love? The audio and narration was very well done.

You cant pick and choose feminism

As a women I am SO tired of hearing women pull the "if you were a gentleman " card. Nope just no. If you were a real woman youd stop whining and expecting everything to go your way. Case in point, Ean falls off a chair and hurts his back, but childish Lacey wont share a freaking king sized bed. They're in a cottage, its snowing outside over 18 inches the floors are hardwood and she says if you're a gentleman you'd sleep on the floor. Why dont you put your sorry butt on the floor and let him have the bed if your victorian sensibilities cant handle sharing? She has him go out and bring in wood, why doesnt she? When Ean tells her he wont touch her her juvenile thought process is, "oh woah is me, he doesnt want me". Did he say that, no. He tried to alleviate her "fears". Then once she gets her way she uses baby talk to show how "sorry" she is. Weak woman. If it's all about equal rights then be equal and share the dang bed!

I cant stand manipulative women. She has held a grudge for 12 freaking years. How pathetic. She was 14 and he was 18 what the heck did she expect? One would think she would have matured in those 12 years, I guess not. I'm about half way through this drivel. This sounds like the worst Christmas movie ever. Doubt my opinion of Lacey will change. If she were real I'd tell her to freaking grow up and grow a pair.

Hallmark type Christmas Romance

I see this book becoming one of those sweet Christmas movies. It has the magic of romance and believing everything is possible. I must say this is a PG book with zero intimacy descriptions. Many things are left into our imagination but it does't take away from being a cute nice story to listen to. That said I found the character of Ava (the girl that was getting married) completely annoying and childish and that's the reason I won't continue the series. The ending took me by surprise. I wasn't expecting it so that was a bonus. Just let yourself go into the story and enjoy it without overthinking.

An Okay Story.

Overall, this story is okay. It is romantic and brings back long ago love and deeply hidden feelings. The problem I have is with one of the characters: Ava. I am not sure if it is the way whe is written or how the story is read but this is the whiniest most annoying character. Within the first few minutes, she is a problem for the listener. It is too bad as it takes away from the story anytime she is in the story. You will have to constantly remind yourself that she is in her mid-20s and getting ready to get married!! She acts as is she is 16 and having problems with her prom date. Her emotions are a problem and her anger at the wold get boring. It is too bad as the other story of Lacey and Ean is well written and ejoyable.

Has a wonderful Hallmark vibe

The Christmas Cottage was a great fall in love story. Each person played a part that was believable. It has a surprise ending, Happily Ever After.

Christmas Sweetness

I very much enjoyed this audio book. The chemistry between the characters was developed greatly. The fairytale magic weaved into the book made things seem more romantic.

I love forward to listening more audio books by Samantha Chase!!
