Publisher's summary

They're the black sheep - the bad boys every good girl wants to have hold her, touch her, take her, love her....

"I have some spare beer, if you're interested.... "

I'd know that voice anywhere, and every time I hear it, it makes me sweat. If you saw Donovan MacLeod, trust me, you'd need a change of clothes, too. It's been eighteen years, but he's got the same cocky swagger, silver-gray eyes, and sexy smile that promises a whole lot of trouble. Not that I'll ever find out because he loathes me - thinks I'm some spoiled princess. So, there's something I've just got to ask....

"Why are you here, Donovan?"

Well, Kate Sutherland, how about, I've fantasized about you for eighteen years? Or, I wanted to remember how it feels to need a cold shower every time you flick that perfect blond hair out of your blue eyes? Yeah, good answers, but truth is I came back to help, because I think you're in for some trouble. My bad-boy gut says you're gonna need me - in more ways than one....

Memory Lane

Donovan MacLeod, otherwise known as Mac to his friends is an ex-cop gone back to his small town to help out an old flame. An old flame he wouldn't dare go near as a kid, but 18 yrs later now wants to help. Bullied as a kid and son of the town drunk made Mac the man he is today, but he's fantasized about Kate Sutherland and now has the opportunity to help her even if she doesn't know it, or want it....yet.
When things start happening on Kate's property she can't prove, and can't get the local town sheriff to believe her, Mac steps in with his skills to help out....which has its perks of getting to know Kate all over again.
Sebastian York is always a favorite narrator of mine. He gives infliction and personality to all his characters.

Takes way too long for each leg of the story.

While I usually really enjoy Sebastian York as a narrator, I did not like this story or narration. It took way too long to get to any points of interest. It's not really worth your credit or price to listen to this program - and I am a very lenient listener. Don't buy this particular book or it will put you to sleep. I'll try the next one.

1st of a Trilogy about 3 friends

Romantic suspense introducing 3 guys working as philanthropic investigators and a woman who they new as children as a poor little rich girl ignored by her a nasty mother. Story moves at a good pace and Sebastian York's narration is great but could have been even better had it been dual narration. This was a great choice on the escape package .

Slow and not all exciting

While Sebastian York was wonderful as always, the story could not hold my interest. For me, there was way too much overly descriptive inner dialogue, and not enough action. There was only two small suspenseful, yet uneventful chapters, where I hoped something worthwhile would happen. But nothing did. The ending disappointed me. Sure, they talked about what they could do to the bad guys so they would get their just dessert, but as far as I know, nothing happened. Nothing in the epilogue gave me that closure. Very unsatisfying. Will the story plot pick up with the next book? Who knows if I’ll even listen to find out.
