Publisher's summary

Her past. His secrets. They have more in common than she knows.

Maisy is happily content with the life she's built for herself and her young son in small-town Prescott, Montana. Her child is thriving, her business is growing, and her family is as close as they've ever been. But when a handsome stranger walks into the lobby of her motel, her simple life is swept up in a wave of affection for his gentle heart. None of those feelings can be trusted, though. She made that mistake before with another man. The man she murdered.

Hunter was a different man when he first saw Maisy Holt from afar. He took one look at her and ran in the opposite direction. But years later, he's back in Montana and unable to keep his distance. He shouldn't have tried to find her but he never was good at rejecting temptation. The promise of the good she could bring into his life is too hard to resist. Maybe if he can disguise the lies and hide the deceit, he can keep her from learning the truth. Because his only chance at a future with her is by burying his past.

Exciting and hot

I have been dying for Maisy’s story. A woman that is forced to make impossible choices but still comes out on top. Now it’s her turn for love. But of course it can’t be that easy. Hunter comes into her life and it’s instant connection. What happens after is chuck full of action and intensity and crazy chemistry.

Ava and Aiden are perfection. Ava has played the role of each female character perfectly. I’ve thoroughly enjoyed her. Aiden was Hunter personified. Loved it.

The Bitterroot Inn

I have to admit I was worried, the last 2 book were just ok for me. But I LOVED the first 2 and well I was invested in this series so I had to see how it was going to play out.

I am so glad I took the leap this book is as good as the first two in my opinion.

Maisy is a favorite of mine and someone I wanted to get her HEA from very early on. I am kind of glad she was the last book because she had time to grow as a character and we got to see it. Her book is everything I hoped it would be and more.

I loved Coby, he was the cutest little kid ever. I am a huge fan when authors add kids into the mix and not only that but when they are rooted in the story and not thought of as a side character.

When we meet Hunter you just have this feeling that he is going to mend Maisy’s heart and she doesn’t even know it yet. What hooked me was the way he was with Coby and you can feel the love he has for him right away.

Sigh so glad I listened to this book and the narration… Oh, it will sweep you off your feet. Fantastic choice in the narration.

Loved the narration as much as the story!

Audiobook: Narrated by Ava Erikson and Aiden Snow

OMG!!! I loved the narration of this book! Both of these narrators added a whole new depth and dimension to the story. I couldn’t have asked for a better duo for Maisy and Hunter. Ava, as always, is spot on with each character while Aiden was the perfect voice of Hunter. I often need a chapter or two, if not more, to adjust to the voices but there was no struggle here. It started smoothly and continued on. Absolutely loved this audio!!!

Where to even start? This was the most amazing book! I absolutely loved everything about it! Every. Single. Thing.

Maisy Holt is a survivor and a savior. She survived Everett and while doing so saved her son Coby. It took a few years and life changes before she was “okay”, and everyone in Prescott will tell you that she’s moved on and all of that nastiness is in the past. With her to-do list and her renovations, the Bitterroot Inn has been her saving grace. Even if she occasionally feels a twinge of envy when in the presence of her friends and family and their significant others, she’s not quite ready to actively pursue a relationship. That is, until Hunter Faraday walks into her lobby.

Hunter has a deep dark secret that he’s keeping close. Protecting it until the time is right, as if there could ever be such a time. He was drawn to Maisy the first time he laid eyes on her and now that he’s returned to Prescott he finds himself pulled to her against all common sense and self-warnings. From the moment he heard her laughter and saw her smile he belonged to her. But how can a man build a relationship with the woman of his heart when he’s forced to hold so much of himself back?

I cannot say how much I adored these characters! My heart hurt for Maisy as I learned some of the techniques she had indulged in to help her deal with the effects Everett’s words had on her. On the surface she is a woman of strength but as the story progresses that strength grows and takes root deep inside of her. Hunter comes with quite a bit of baggage himself and my heart was heavy when all of his secrets were revealed. Ultimately, he was a man deeply in love and prepared to do whatever it took to make things right. That right there feeds my romantic soul. Hunter never once gave up and he made sure Maisy knew that he never would. Sigh.

Some interesting things I learned from The Bitterroot Inn:

Kicking a man in the cojones can be a precursor to falling in love

You can forget Santa Claus if you’ve got The Package Man - get your minds out of the gutter

Nervous energy can be transmitted from the page into your body resulting in tapping feet, bouncing legs and chewed off nails – Ms. Perry owes me a manicure

One text message can turn you into a sobbing mess – oh gawd that text killed me!

With just a look, I’m already in love with Mason Drummond

And the perfect epilogue can make you smile even as you weep because it is just…so…perfect.

Thank you Devney Perry for introducing me to all of the Jamison Valley characters that were parading in your head. I’ve absolutely loved getting to know them and while I will certainly revisit them in the future, I am saddened that for now the door is closing on this beautiful and amazing series.

So good!

I’ve listened to the entire series and I’m sad it’s over! Love love loved this addition to the series. Maizie and hunter’s story is swoon worthy as are all the love stories in Prescott! So we’ll written. So much emotion. Just so. So. Good.

I have my fingers crossed for another book or two... micheal and the vet need a story and Rowan and mason too! Please!!!!!!

OTT Drama

I had high expectations after reading The Outpost and was disappointed with this one. I found the FMC, Maisy, annoying for saying sorry as often as she did. I thought I’d like her more after she revealed her traumatic past to Hunter. Then she kept shutting him down when he attempted several times to tell her his secret. I understood she was going through a lot, but after everything, you'd think she’d be on high alert. She didn't even ask him what he does for a living before introducing him to her family (I facepalmed myself)!

As for Hunter, this man was supposed to be Dr. McDreamy, but his personality was boring and lackluster. He gets points for being there for Coby, but the ending was all over the place. Otherwise, I found the side characters to be the best part of this book. Beau and Sabina are still my favorites!

Maisy Maisy Maisy..

*contains spoilers*
I first read the book then I listened to it. Twice. Narration is spot on-total 5 stars.
It just boils down to the fact that I ended up not liking Maisy’s character. She’s supposed to be this forgiving, loving, friend to everyone person. Only she’s not. She’s trying hard to be this strong, look life right in the eye kind of woman, only she isn’t. She denies Hunter for 36+ days to tell her his truth because she doesn’t want to be hurt and lose him before the custody trial?? Only it sounds like she expects to lose him after the fact?! Some aspects of the story just didn’t gel for me. Hunter may have been a little too forgiving and lenient regarding Maisy’s neurosis. I really wanted to like this story-and in some aspects I did. But I think someone needed to tell Maisy to grow up and put on her big girl pants way before she figured out she needed too. At least she figured it out. Not one of my favorites, but I still enjoyed the story overall.

I ave enjoyed this series. I liked the follow up series even better. The last book was a bit of a stinker but this one redeemed.

Another fantastic installment

If you haven’t read any of the Jamison Valley stories then you’re missing out. The story content, the family dynamics, and the heat are just a couple of notable attributes. Devney has a gift. When you read her stories you become invested in their lives and outcomes. Loved Hunter. He really stepped up for Coby and Maisey in a big way.
