Book 3 in Scandals Of The Bad Boy Billionaires series.
Abigail has a mother in a care facility suffering from Alzheimers and her upbringing nurtured her to be nothing more than a privileged socialite so when her father dies leaving them penniless she's forced to marry for the sake of her mother's welfare. Fast-forward a few years - her husband is dead - leaving her in trouble again.. and in the hands of Big John her no good father-in-law who has some very shady and violent plans in store for her. Abigail is seriously stuck and runs away from Big John - but the only thing she has left is her body to barter with.. and that's where Alpha Billionaire Jacob comes in. Abigail and Jacob have been privately eyeing each other at various functions over the years so when Abigail goes to Jacob offering to do ANYTHING if he'd help her out of a bad situation.. Jacob comes up with his sexy plan - be his pet.
Jacob can't believe his luck.. he's never wanted strings but has always lusted after Abigail and now she can be his.. on his terms - live with him, do his sexual bidding and ask for no more - and in return he'll take care of everything. It was a good plan - and it turned out that Abigail was more than willing (and happy) to fulfill his desires but Big John was looking for Abigail, he had a deal arranged with a biker gang and he wasn't going to stop until he'd got her back - but the body count would be high.
I've listened to a few sub/Dom books but they're not really my thing and when I saw 'Pet' I thought it MIGHT fall into that category but took the chance anyway.. and thankfully it wasn't a sub/Dom book. Yes, Jacob was a demanding sexy Alpha but nothing sexually demeaning or in bad taste. To start their budding relationship off there were sexy scenes, a spanking and a toy or two.. but the more time Abigail and Jacob spent together the more their feelings grew. And drama, danger and suspense grew too as Big John's net around the lovers tightened. Thankfully CJ Bloom dialled down her YA sounding narration that came across in the last two books which was a good thing as most of the chapters were from Abigail's POV and Beckett Greylock's voice when it was time for Jacob's POV was rich, smooth and very very sexy indeed.
Worth a credit? Yes, a well written story that had likeable characters, sizzling chemistry, suspense, steam, drama, character growth, good secondary cast members, a twist at the end and a nicely paced romance too.
