Publisher's summary

It's true when people say opposites attract.

Blake Nathaniel, a self-made billionaire visits his cowboy roots hometown to meet his parents. While being there, he has a love-at-first-sight moment and falls for a natural beauty named Sara Cameron, who happens to be his ill father's nurse.

Sara, being the elegant woman that she is, denies Blake's every advance towards her, but on the other hand, Blake, being a determined alpha, does everything to get her.

The chase begins but who will win?

Potential

This book and the narrator both have potential. I would have preferred not to use stars, but it wouldn't let me. I received this book as an ARC so wanted to give the promised honest review. But, the difference for me with this book is, the story had potential. It wasn't a bad listen or story. It just seemed rough around the edges at times and not completely fleshed out. Normally it's just the opposite. Normally when I can't give high stars its because the story was bad. I really liked the idea and concept of the book. And, I loved the main female character. I rather thought our main male character was sort of creepy and a stalker. I thought her reactions to him initially were spot on. And, this character felt real in her interactions.

Same with the narrator. She was stilted at times and had a strange speech pattern. At times I think it was just the wording in the story. The sentence structure was a little strange at times. But, the main thing was the flow. The narrator sounded as though she was reading, not telling and pulling the listener into a story. BUT! Again, she has real potential. She has a great voice for narration and seemed to understand and be able to capture the essence of the characters. I think maybe they are both fairly new. But, I feel like there is real potential here. And, I'd like to read and listen to some later work as they both mature into their craft. Good effort.

Sorry, no.

Story: The story itself is only an hour, and I imagine it is very difficult to do much character development in that amount of time. Most of the characters were pretty superficial, except Sara who was written as an uptight, condescending snot who was very difficult to like. After meeting him once for only a couple of minutes, she barged in on Blake while on the phone and told him that the people waiting for him downstairs were more important than any business call. In spite of that, Blake likes her. (OK. Crazy people need love too, I guess.) So he tries again to get close to her, and she is needlessly rude to him. This apparently makes him want her more. (Alright, but please consider therapy, dude.) He buys her flowers, is rebuffed again and told she is absolutely not interested in him. At this point, it's called stalking, but OK, he keeps at it which I just do not get. All he really knows about Sara is that she's a hot nurse who's incredibly rude and obnoxious, and I'm hoping he cuts his losses like any SANE guy would because most guys don't really like b*tches. But he's not giving up yet and decides to buy her expensive gifts until she snaps and finally persuades him to stop. Then, guess what? He leaves her alone, and she changes her mind. (My eyes rolled so hard, it hurts to look down now. Just NO. Too late. Live your life wondering what could've been if you weren't such a B.) Yeah, well. He's nicer than me. Whatever.

Editing: Either there is a shortage of editors who know what they're doing, OR authors are just skipping the editing process. There are many repetitive and redundant sentences, as well as unrealistic and very awkward dialogue.

Production: The recording is lacking. There seems to be a lot of white noise in some places, echo in other places, pops and clicks and drastic volume changes.

Narration: The narrator does an OK job of "reading," but this needed a professional actor to "perform" it. (Though I'm not sure how much that would've helped.) It seems like Giselle Lumas was reading it for the first time while recording, with no preparation, so it's a bit stilted and choppy. However, as I said earlier, the dialogue is very awkward, so I think she probably did the best she could with the material she was given.

I received this audiobook in exchange for an unbiased review.

The Title is Catching

The title is quite catching and performance wasn't bad, but overall the book needs work. The histories of the primary characters needed to be more detailed passionate about achieving their goals. The supporting characters needed more involvement to smooth out the storyline. Lastly the romance scenes are so elementary, I could have had a V-8. Boring. I gave some stars for effort.

It was Ok

This is Blake and Sarah's story. Blake comes home to be with his sick father and meets Sarah his father's nurse. He chases her, buys her gifts that she returns and finally tells her that she will come to him. She is not impressed by his money and she shows him that he can be loved for himself. His father dies and the family grieves and after that well you will have to listen to find out. The narrator is obviously a new narrator and has not gotten a true handle on the narration. She would be good for the story if she could just smooth it out and practice breathing techniques so she does not have to pause where a pause should not be.

I was given this book for an honest review via audiobook boom.

Not What I had Hoped...

The story was very short, only a little over an hour, but it could have been so much better. I have read/listened to several books that were just as short but were so much better.

The story did not flow well. The dialogue was odd and not believable. Sara was rude and very unpleasant towards Blake. Not sure how he could have put up with her behavior. I know guys can be blind by beauty but this was too much in my point of view.

The narrator reads it ok. I'm not sure if it's her or just an odd dialogue for anyone to try to put more intonation into it. It sounded emotionless. There seem to be some background noises at some areas.

Not so great but good try.

What disappointed you about The Billionaire Cowboy's Love?

I mean it just wasn't a maturely written story. So many things about this story screamed more. Now to be fairm it isn't the worst but goodness I wanted to stop listenening, I can't stand bad narration and this was bad narration

What could Joanna Jacobs have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?

Joanna needed to really take the time to develop the story. I love short stories but this one just had too many missing moments. We need stronger emotions and we need to get to know the characters for ourselves. I should have felt something when the father died but unfortunately I didn't. I don't evern really know what purpose he served in the book. You have to make the characters in the book count. I should want to know more about the characters. I should want to know where they went about their friends.

What didn’t you like about Giselle Lumas’s performance?

Oh Giselle, you have to read that thing with emotion. Make me feel that you are performing it on stage and not reading it out loud for the first time. I need it to be fluid and just feel like you are the character.

You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?

Overall the book just was ok, I look at the cover, read the title and expedted to hear a sexy covboy and a black girl with some kind of sassiness. I didn't get anything close to that. I mean atleast let me get the sexy cowboy with the western voice. Sorry it just wasn't for me.

Any additional comments?

I was given this book in return for my unbiased opinion and I honeslty tried to like it but it truly needs work . The overall story is cute but the narration along with the character flaws and story gaps just didn't work for me.

good book and I liked the storyline. I would have liked a more racy love scene. I will recommend this book to anyone that likes a clean romantic book.
