The Awakening

I have read all of this author's books, from several of her different series, and I have got to say this was the worst book I have read of hers. I guess, statistically, she was due for a stinker!
The love scenes got to be tiring and tedious- I actually had to skip over them since I couldn't take them anymore, which made the story end much faster, and made me feel cheated as far as the money spent to buy it.
Christine, please, go back to developing the storyline and cut out the sex already!

Waste of money waste of time

This is a waste of time! This book although important I guess for the series was just a waste of time and money. I am a huge fan of Christine Feehan she is the author who got me into paranormal books. So I figured that this series would be a good one. Man was i wrong.

It isn't that long but it took me forever to read. I can't explain. How much of a bore this book was.

A woman goes to the jungle of South America to inherit her dead parents estate. She meets a man and with in one day of meeting him falls in love with him and begins sleeping with him and decides to spend the rest of her life with him. Oh and a plot twist another man tries to steal her and the two men duke it out and fight to the death to have her. That is what the story is about in a two sentences.

From the excepts that I have apart from this one the rest of the series seem to have more meat to them, and should be more entertaining than this one.

I wold have to say hat this is not essential to the series and you can go on to the second book and be fine with out reading the first one. The narrator did a okay job but not the best. All in all this is not one of the best from Christine Feehan.

alright

this book was ok, it ended rather abruptly and the book was very short, Christine Feehan has some great books, so the mediocrity of this one kind of stunned me.

Lame...

I had a free $10 credit from Audible, so it's probably my fault that I didn't do much research when picking a random book to download...

This novella/short story had no depth and was just a lame erotic flop from the first chapter. I thought the idea of shape-shifters had some real potential, but it was wasted on steamy love scenes and sexual tension through out.

I was disappointed and annoyed. I would never read anything by this author again. I think I would throw up or laugh myself silly... What a joke...

The narrator, Allison Kruise, has a nice voice and I enjoyed her narration very much. I thought she did a great job and hope she narrates some better books in the future!

The Awakening Leopard Series Book 1.

Brandt Talbot was an estate care taker whose lifemate was giving to another woman to rise. Her name is Maggie Odessa and she was the child of two leopards. Who were killed by some Poachers long ago Miss Jayne Odessa raised her and she promised her mother that she will never allow her to come into the rain forest. Due to the killings of her parents. REVIEW: The Awakening is book 1 in Christine Feehan’s Leopard Series. Rain forests, mangos, and tarsiers pulled me in right away. Having seen and held a tarsier in the Philippines, I can easily relate to the glorious descriptions in this story. The tarsier is one of the smallest primates with the biggest eyes. Brandt had searched the world for years seeking Maggie since her parents were killed in the rain forest. Brandt lured Maggie to Borneo via a legal office alerting her of an inheritance of property there. Upon arriving in the high humidity, she became aware of physiologic changes making her more aware of her body and femininity. She felt like she had come to life in this canvas of perfumed flowers. She knew she belonged here. Upon meeting with Brandt, she was uncertain. She shied away from his forwardness and became suspicious. Brandt cautiously related her family’s history, their life work, and the mission of his community of shape shifters. Being super alpha, he was inept at conveying his caring for her. Eventually, after considerable dialog she calmed and found herself physically attracted to him. (Feehan’s hyper speed attraction/lust). Super hot sex! While Brandt was out, Maggie considered running away and suffered through Han Vol Dan, shifting to a cat, alone. Lots of action, danger and fighting ensued. While this book is only a short but intense introduction to a series, it was great. The world building is so believable, I felt like I could smell the flowers, hear the birds and animals. Feehan fans should love this book and series. I’m off to get Wild Rain.

My only complaint was that the story wasn't longer

A great story. Erotically charged. Since it is a relatively short book the plot isn't as complicated as many Christine Feehan books but it was quite good.

Disappointed. introduction to jaguar race was ok. seems just switch Carpathian with jaguar. Then. all sudden you got ending, and book done. She has done better work.

Too short and too sexual

What could Christine Feehan have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?

Some less sex, more plot, more characters.

Which scene was your favorite?

Entering the house for the first time.

Any additional comments?

It was well written but had very little plot, few characters and a lot of description of the bedroom. I don't mind sexual books, but I do like more to a book than just that. So, it's a so so book.

Not the Place to Start

I have read almost every book in the Leopard Series, starting with Wild Rain back when it came out in 2004 and wanted to listen to them all on audio, since I drive a lot for work. Honestly, had I started with this book way back in 2004, I probably wouldn't have kept reading the series. It doesn't have the same feel as the others, and the narrator uses the same voice and tone for all of the characters, which makes it painful to listen to. I love Christine Feehan's writing, but this one is not for me. I am hoping the other audio books are better.
