Publisher's summary

The talents of legendary marksman Gregor "Arrow" MacGregor are crucial now, as King Robert the Bruce moves to reclaim his Scottish holdings. Gregor's fame as an archer is rivaled only by his reputation with the lasses as a heartbreaker. But when he is exposed during a covert mission, Gregor is forced to lay low. He returns home only to find a new battle waiting: a daring game of seduction involving his now very grown-up and very desirable ward, Cate of Lochmaben. A born fighter, Cate was clinging to life when Gregor rescued her after a vicious English raid on her village left her mother dead. But five years later, the once scrappy orphan Gregor took under his protection has become a woman. The heat in his eyes tells her that she has his attention - and his desire. But will Gregor allow his heart to surrender before danger finds them and the truth of Cate's identity is revealed?Contains mature themes.

Geez!

I finished this story only because I committed myself to it in the beginning and wanted to see how it played out. I just didn’t really care for Kate, I agree where others say she was annoying. She frustrated me and acted too much like a young child towards him in the beginning with her naivety and whining. I’m not sure if it was because of the way she was written or if it was due to the narrator. I haven’t listened to any of the other in the series and now I’m wondering if I should.

So Disappointed. Annoying Heroine. Weak Story.

Really disappointing. Gregor was a great and interesting character in the other books. His story here was beneath him and didn’t do him justice. Kate is immature, manipulative, self righteous, naive, and annoying. She tries to change Gregor into who she wants instead of loving the man he is. I hated her character and did not want Gregor to be with her. Gregor devolves from being a complex character to being a stereotypical one. The writer ruined him. There is a storyline involving orphans that is one of the dumbest plot devices I’ve ever seen in a book. It just didn’t fit and was so forced and ridiculous. This is the worst of the entire series for me. I do not recommend it. It was difficult to finish because I was so extremely disappointed.

Not leading male, cheating male. Worst in series.

Gregor gets a BJ to prove he doesn't love his finance! Then claims he does!?!

another good addition to the series

I read many reviews on Goodreads who hated Cate but I thought she was a great match for the "most handsome man in Scotland ". I could have done without the episode in the ale house, but it worked out all right in the end. Off to the next book in the series. This is a solid 4 stars and a must read if invested in the series.

WOW I JUST LOVED IT!!

Where does The Arrow rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

The story ranks very high, BUT Narrator, Antony Ferguson is Awful. He really cannot sound like a female or Childs voice He is horrible in that area.

What other book might you compare The Arrow to and why?

I am not sure. I have to think about that.

Would you be willing to try another one of Antony Ferguson’s performances?

No Not really!! I keep buying his books with the hopes he will improve on the female voices but so far he hasn't!!

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

It did both I laughed and I cried!!

Any additional comments?

The Arrow is my favorite story so far. It is perfect in every department, characters, romance, funny, adventurous, secrets and a tad of angst, not to much. I love the ending epilog. I felt like I was there in each and every scene with "Arrow" Gregor MacGregory the Highland Guard Marksmen and Archer and Cate Lochmaben or is that really her name, Cate has big secrets as to her identity. Gregor finds her trapped and staving in a well after her village was attacked by the English. Cate was only 15 at the time. Six years later at age 21 Cate goes after her man. Gregor is know to be the handsomest man in Scotland and his wee ward wants him for her own. The story is very funny at times and very sad at times. This is one sexy hot story and I love that Monica McCarty concentrated on the romance side of this story and not the war between Scotland and England. I loved that the couple was actually stationary at the castle and not moving around while fighting the war England. This is My favorite in the Highland Guard series so far!!!

A fun listen

I’ve thoroughly enjoyed the Highland Guard series. Not too serious and completely predictable but a sweet story and very enjoyable.

A King's Daughter?

Gregor MacGregor the sexiest man in Scotland, renowned Archer and a member of Robert the Bruce 's Highland Guard.
Kate a young lady, being th only left alive in a village. A village that had helped Robert and his men during the dark days when they were running for their lives.
Gregor takes Kate as his ward and 5 years later...kate is all grown up and Gregor is attracted to Kate as more than just a ward.
More surprises twists and turns. Will love prevail? Great story and great characters.
