Publisher's summary

Against the backdrop of 20 half-naked models on DD land, and in the midst of fighting the oil establishment that just won't give Riley a chance, Texas Heat is the story of one hot summer in Texas with a Gay Rodeo, humor, angst, and a love between two men that just grows stronger every day.

Jack hires Robbie, a man recovering from a great loss, to be his right hand man. Meanwhile, Riley's mischievous photographer friend, Eli, decides the DD is the perfect backdrop for a cowboy themed model shoot. Eli has secrets not even Riley knows about but despite what he is hiding he falls in lust with Robbie at first sight. Everyone except Robbie can see how perfect Eli would be for him.

What happens when secrets spill and lies are discovered? And just how far will Riley and Jack go to play matchmaker?

Texas Heat

Texas Heat is the third book in RJ Scott’s Texas series. This series must be read/listened to in order as it follows the lives of Riley and Jack Campbell-Hayes and their family. I’ve read and listened to this series many times and every time I fall in love with it more.

Nothing is simple in the lives of Jack and Riley and in this third book, that constant remains. I love each of these books and experiencing the family being built. Jack and Riley’s love and life is strong. In this book, you get to see them stand as a couple even more than the others. They’ve become more comfortable as a family of three and have grown into their father positions.

In this book, we get the addition of Robbie and Eli. Robbie is hired to work on the farm with Jack and Eli is an old college friend of Riley’s. This book not only focuses on Jack and Riley, but also Robbie and Eli. They both have their own hardships to overcome, but with a loving relationship like Jack and Riley around, both men are able to work through their history to find a life together. Though the soap opera drama in this book is less than the first, there is still plenty of drama.

Sean Crisden is a fantastic narrator that brings this story to life! Even when I read this story, I hear his voice narrating it in my head because it’s perfection! He is able to give each character distinctive voices and is consistent with the use. He has an enjoyable voice, keeps a great pace and is clear and concise is his narration. He conveys emotions through the characters and lets the focus be on the story and characters, not the narration.

If you’ve never listened to this audio, or read this series, I’d highly recommend it! Though I love both the books and audiobooks, my preference is the audiobook. It’s easy to fall into the story, shut out the outside world and just be part of the Campbell-Hayes family.

Love this series

It’s a real love story with exciting twists and turns. Each series builds well on the previous stout and has me hooked. I find myself listening and giggling or out right laughter as the story continues. It has everything that makes a good book or a damn good movie!

Thank you RJ Scott!

What's next for Mr. & Mr. Campbell Hayes?

Would you consider the audio edition of Texas Heat to be better than the print version?

Didn't read it but the audiobook was amazing!

What was one of the most memorable moments of Texas Heat?

I thoroughly enjoyed Riley's mom showing up at the meeting and all but out right daring those men to disagree with her.

What about Sean Crisden’s performance did you like?

All of it? Seriously, he does Cowboy so well, but this is the first time I've been treated with an Aussie voice and he nailed it!

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

Life goes on...

Any additional comments?

I love how the characters continue to grow and evolve and have to face new challenges. It really is about life moving on and how Jack, Riley and their daughter deal with things day to day. In this book we get to meet a new hand on the ranch, Robbie, an Australian transplant with a story, sorrow in his past. We also get to meet Riley college best friend, Eli, who also has a past. Everything comes together and at the end of the day, they are all stronger as long as they stick together.

I do hope there's more :)

Texas Heat

This book is just as cute and fluffy as the first two books in the series. Such a great and ongoing Happily Ever After Romance between the two main characters Jack and Riley.

This book also gives us and extra little side story for some new minor characters as well. Robbie and Eli. I'm glad that the story line is expanding and I think introducing us to these new characters was a fantastic idea and addition. Both Robbie and Eli haven't had an easy time of things in the past. They both deserve their HEA as well. And they are forming their relationship in the good company of Jack and Riley and the Double D Ranch.

I love these books. I mean really how could anyone NOT Love them...

Sean Crisden once again and not surprisingly did an amazing job with this audio book and all of these characters. I really enjoyed listening to and reading this book just as much as the first two in the series. CUTE and FLUFFY for sure!!

Another good one!!

I love this series. I read it several times before R.J. started putting it in audio format. Sean Crisden does a great job. I can't wait for the next in the series.

Still Brilliant

Overall Series 5th Re-Read 2019:
As I've said many times before, RJ Scott's Texas series was the first published M/M genre book that I read so they will always hold a place of pride in my heart. No matter how many times I read or listen to the journey Jack and Riley Campbell-Hayes, their friends and family take I never tire of it. The characters and the paths they take are so real, so honest, the good and the bad, the heartache and the healing, it never fails to put a smile on face.

As for the audio versions, I can't imagine anyone other than Sean Crisden bringing these stories to life. Sean's voice make Jack, Riley, and the whole Texas family(which grows with each entry because its not just blood that connects everyone) real. Honestly I felt as if I looked up I'd see Jack with Solo Cal out in the yard or Riley on the floor with his maps.

If you haven't read/listened to Texas before I highly recommend giving it a go but it is a series needed to be experienced in order. I warn you though Jack and Riley can be addictive, you'll never want to say goodbye and now thanks to audio you really don't have to😉😉.
