Odd Title for Such a Wonderful Book!

I love when I am surprised with an excellent book. This It happens often when I purchase a discounted audiobook and come up with an enjoyable read and another much loved author to enjoy. I immediately put the rest of this series of her books on my wish list. If all chick lit were this good – I’d read it all the time.

A story about an out of work journalist who takes a job well below her abilities because it’s the only job she can get, only to find that it leads her to on a great adventure in finding out what is most important. It’s a real feel good saga.

The narration is fantastic. During a scene that takes place at an auction, you will just be blown away by Johanna Parker’s skills. I also went to see what other books she has read because I was equally as impressed.

Well worth the money!!!

Overall Christian message?

Seems to give an overall Christian message of love and peace found in a relationship with God, but leaves morality as optional and I would much prefer having been spared the bad language and profanity.

Very Pleasant listen

This book was very pleasant and a very good story. Not a waste of your time. It makes you think about what is important in your day to day living. The Narrator was very good. She has a smooth mellow voice that made the listen that much more pleasant.
I bought the book for a 4.95 special and it was definitely worth it. Not sure if I would have used a credit but it was a good story.

What a sweet story.

Texas was my first home and this really had me thinking of home. I enjoyed the several stories all wrapped in one.

SHADES OF GRAY WITHOUT THE SMUT?

I found myself comparing this sweet little romance with the self-consciously shocking Shades of Gray: similar readability, modern relationship expectations hungering for something more traditional and deeper, mystery man love object. I definitely prefer this book to the soft porn novel. The narrator's voice works well with this simple, sincere little tale grounded in solid moral values.
I also enjoyed reminiscing about Texas Hill Country through the writer's eyes. There's just enough local color to keep me engaged. However, another Texas based audiobook gets much higher marks for me, Boy Kings of Brownsville by Domingo Martinez. That book evokes the real Texas for me.

It's a refreshing departure from all the violence and tension out there. A sweet story with Christian undertone. The story is plausible enough to have actually happened.

What was the most interesting aspect of this story? The least interesting?

The overview of rural life and the rewards of being part of a mostly tolerant and generous community.

What three words best describe Johanna Parker’s performance?

Young adequate narrator

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

Many parts bought a smile and a laugh....nice!

Any additional comments?

If you,re looking for an easy, enjoyable listen with a sprinkle of old fashioned morality thrown in - this is it.

Simply wonderful

Full of funny moments, good people, hard choices, small town life. A fish out of water story with a DC reporter visiting a small ranching town and finding unexpected romance. I laughed and cried - I don’t often do either while listening to a book.
