Publisher's Summary

I'm that guy. Camilla Landry rustles against me, the silky fabric of her overpriced lingerie slipping along my bruised rib. The porcelain perfection of her skin is even more innocent against the colorful ink dotting my own. It's demure meets damaged, pampered meets punctured.
So, yeah, it's obvious I'm that guy. Dominic Hughes. Her attempt at rebellion. Her bid to see what the other side of the tracks feel like. I'm okay with being used because, from where I'm sitting, the other side of the tracks have never looked so good.

Now you'd think I'd know better after listening to all the other wonderful books in this addictive series.. but oh no no no.. I go and start this book.. yes START this book at bedtime - naively intending to listen to just a few chapters - huh.. well at 2 a.m I was still riveted. Rooting for a mismatched couple who were complete opposites. Mild-mannered heiress Camilla Landry with time on her hands for charity work and the handsome alpha Dominic Hughes - a dirt poor troubled tatooed boxer/air con engineer who fights so he can keep the roof over his head. He has a 'history' with the Landry brothers and wants nothing to do with them.. or from them. Their relationship is surely doomed?

Dom and Cam have already been in a 'no strings' secret relationship for ten months with absolutely no talk of getting serious because this stubborn alpha had a very different upbringing from Cam's - it was a bitter childhood which ended in bloodshed and tears. Dom's convinced there'll be no HEA for Cam and him because he's got nothing to offer her and refuses to pull her into his world - so he emotionally tries to keeps his distance. However, Cam doesn't see his failings.. only his strengths, his struggles and his loyalties (coupled with their amazing sexual chemistry of course). She tries really hard to mask her true feelings for Dom and continues a relationship devoid of HEA's while around her are happy Landry's who've found their soulmates, are married or engaged and who are already parents or happily pregnant. These are things Cam wants with Dom - but he's blinded by his circumstances and their life differences.

This is their dual POV journey.. one that will have challenges, pitfalls, emotional drama and cloudy skies.. but it'll also have passion, possessive behaviour, sexcapades, touching times and two separate loving families who clash with yet support a hero and heroine who are destined to be together.. but who are destined to make it difficult first. As we all know, the narration can make or break a book.. it can be a torture or a pleasure.. and thankfully this book was a pleasure because it was expertly narrated by Kai and Wen - a great team whose style of narration and talents made each chapter flow smoothly.. seriously good guys.

Worth a credit? Abso-freaking-lutely. I didn't think I was going to like it as the relationship was already established, a done deal with no build-up.. but very quickly Adriana Locke locked me in to the emotional turmoil, the conflict, the passion, the negatives and the positives that these two likeable characters battled to keep under their control. And another plus was that all of the other Landry clan were here too.. from the older alpha brothers who were looking out for their baby sis.. to the loving parents (as well as the 'significant others') who lend an ear, a shoulder to cry on or share wise words of wisdom at just the right time.

All this time, I thought Camilla's nickname was Swank. I'm not sure what Swink means, but I sure enjoyed her story. The main conflict is between Camilla's swanky life and Dom's working class and sometimes seedy one.

Locke's strength is her characters. She simply makes you fall in love with them. The whole Landry family makes you want to be a part of it. I enjoyed seeing the continuation of Graham's and Mallory's relationship, too. It's nice to revisit all the siblings' stories. I can't believe there's only one more left. I wouldn't mind seeing a book dedicated to Troy (hint, hint).

As always, Kai Kennicott and Wen Ross's narration is top notch. I've always loved their work, but I think it's getting even better with time. There is nothing that compares with duet narration. It's so nice to hear men be men and women be women.

I received this audiobook for free and chose to review it.
