Fan-Freaking-Tastic!

Where has C.D. Reiss been?! Wow she brings a new level of writing to the Erotic Romance genre! Really, I can’t think of another book in the genre that I gave a 5 stars rating. Sure there are others that I really like but it’s been a little while.

SONGS OF SUBMISSION: SEQUENCE ONE is books 1 -3 (BEG, TEASE & SUBMIT) in the Songs of Submission series by C.D. Reiss. They were originally released as a serial series and the books in the whole series are being produced in audio book format. I’m so glad that I got to listen to them all together. If I had to wait for TEASE after listening to BEG I would have gone nuts. LOL

We follow the relationship between Monica and Jonathan through them meeting and working through their sexual relationship where neither wants more. But of course after spending sometime together Monica starts to hope for more even though she knows that Jonathan is not capable of more.

But Jonathan keeps Monica coming back for more because of the mind blowing sex between them. But have no fear Reiss doesn’t write just great sex scenes. No Monica and Jonathan are deep characters with a deeper connection. And there are a few interesting side characters that bring something to the party.

While listening to SEQUENCE ONE I laughed, was turned on, on the edge of my seat and heart broken. The writing and narration had me feeling like I was in the story with Monica and Jonathan. SEQUENCE ONE was a total emotional ride and I want to ride it again and again.

Jo Raylan brought C.D. Reiss’s words and characters to life perfectly! Jo’s voice and Reiss’s writing totally sucked me in within the first 20 minutes of the audio. Jo Raylan is a new name but she’s not new to the narration game. She narrates under another name (don’t ask because if I told you, I’d have to kill you. LOL) but even though she’s a pro under another name I’ve got to tell ya it was like listening to another person.

If I had not known Jo used a pseudonym I would have thought, hey she kind of sounds like someone I know but it can’t be the same person because Jo’s pitch and delivery really is something new. Her voice is smooth, seductive and she nails the male voice almost better than the female voices. It’s hard (at least for me) to find a female narrator that can be spot on with the males as well as the females. And the part where Jo sings Monica’s song. WOW

The team of Reiss and Raylan on my must listen list. If they are part of it I want more of it!

I cannot wait for SONGS OF SUBMISSION: SEQUENCE TWO books 4-6 (CONTROL, BURN & RESIST) to be released on audio. We get some Jonathan’s POV and I can’t wait to hear what’s going on in his head.

More PLEASE!!!!

Any additional comments?

Fifty Shades of Grey? What's that? That is how you will feel after starting this series!!! This first installment was AMAZING. I am checking everyday for the next installment to come out. Its main characters are really well written. Everything about the book is just so well throughout and interwoven. The heroin is strong, funny has just enough attitude. While our bad boy is just the perfect amount of BAD without making him seem unreal. Just listen to the book because not only is it already a great book but the narrator Jo Raylan, brings it up another notch and you just can't stop listening to it! You don't want to know how long I stayed up just so I could finish the book. Did I mention I NEED the next one now! So what are you waiting for go LISTEN and thank me later..:o)

Another rich guy-poor girl

Shocking, poor girl and billionaire romance. Poor girl low self esteem. Poor rich boy no one could ever love until said poor girl comes around. Hot and steamy?...meh.

A female narrator that nail's a sexy male voice.

I thought this book was well written. Though it was hot, and steamy it wasn't as predictable as I thought it would be. If you like hot book's with sexy dirty talking male's.... just follow Carolyn from new Jersey. She has a nack for picking the good one's. when I'm undecided about what to listen to next I just read her reviews.

SO GLAD I TOOK A CHANCE ON THIS ONE!!!

Wow! This book really blew me away. I bought it after listening to a snippet of the 2nd book, and I'm so glad I did! This was my first CD Reiss book, and definitely will not be my last. Be warned, this book is seriously erotic, but, it's SO GOOD it just draws you in with every chapter. The narrator was perfect, perfect, perfect; she brought a lot of life to Monica's character and even did a good job as Jonathan. CD Reiss did a stellar job creating two characters that are perfectly flawed. Totally worth every star!!!

Well written characters.

This book has an involved story-line, there's a lot going on and it is well done. Jonathan, a wealthy property developer, has some major psychological issues we don’t learn about in this book, yet I cared about him. He is a strong, alpha man with a broken heart that is beautifully described - I felt tenderness towards him. Monica, a struggling singer trying to gain a foothold on a recording career, has so many pressures and somehow Jonathan is her perfect match - she allows herself to submit when intimate with him. She and Jonathan have a special chemistry and I enjoyed reading their romance.

I’ve read several novels with BDSM elements and they were surprisingly loving, warm and good. SUBMISSION is a different level of good. SUBMISSION feels dark, but riveting. There was a lot of non-vanilla sex and I devoured every word - not one boring moment (and I don’t usually read love stories for the sex).

Sex is an important element of SUBMISSION and although it’s sex I cannot personally find appealing, I was happy this couple expressed their feelings through their dark brand of kink. I felt that for them it was consensual and fulfilling. Even though their private world is not my kind of thing, I really enjoyed this listening experience.

I listened to this book knowing it was not a stand-alone - it’s book 1 in The Submission Series (3 Book Series). If you don’t feel like reading more, SUBMISSION ends in a way that you could consider happy-for-now. But clearly there’s more to this story and I found myself hooked. The writing is excellent. So I bought the next instalment, Domination (The Submission Series Book 2) and I consider that one is even better.

Jo Raylan perfectly voices all the characters in this instalment, and is joined by Christian Fox in books 2 and 3. They make a superb narrating team for this series.

If your preference is for vanilla sex love stories, try CD Reiss’s books Shuttergirl and Bombshell – both very enjoyable.

Really good narration!

I was into this story for the Beg and Tease installments, but Monica, the heroine, lost me in Submit. I didn't really understand her hangups and that made me enjoy her interludes with Jonathan less. I have the entire series in an e-book bundle and the next two audiobook bundles, but I think I'll wait to continue. My real life impatience may be impacting my ability to connect with this serial story.
