Publisher's summary

It was supposed to be a vacation, a time to save her marriage, but what Joan Clayton hadn't counted on was Murphy's Law of Vail Mountain and the secrets that had damaged her marriage beyond repair. It was over. Depressed and angry, she decided to venture directly into an oncoming snowstorm, one that would be known as the blizzard of the century.

Stephen Brockheart received the call concerning a missing tourist after working 26 hours straight. A park ranger for the mountain resort, he set out on the routine mission, knowing he was running out of time as the blizzard hit with visibility zero. What he hadn't counted on was saving a beautiful woman and falling for her, a city girl who knew nothing about the dangers of the mountain. He had been there before and vowed never to return.

As Mother Nature raged, Joan was soon overcome by the feelings a complete stranger evoked in her, causing her to reevaluate her own life. Through the blizzard and stranded at the resort, death was imminent for any who would try to leave. Despite loss and secrets, can two people find love and happiness again?

Can they be given a second chance to make it real and lasting, or will that chance die with them?

Uummmmm

So, I have to say that this did keep my attention and I am happy that I listened to the audiobook. BUT - there are some flaws that are hard to not roll my eyes at —- her best friend’s reasoning for her betrayal??? Couldn’t tell her about her sickness and just had to find the last bit of happiness by having sex with her husband?? And the husband being the one she went to for support??? And forgiving that friend?? No. That felt condescending to ask us to believe that... I also would have liked a little more attraction from her point of view. Instead I felt like it al came from him and that we didn’t really see how she felt until the end. And, declaring LOVE after a couple of days. Little silly.

it is a fast read and fairly predictable. narrator isn't bad but doesn't really make you want to come back for more. a few F bombs but a pretty soft read

Fresh Start

Stranded on Vail Mountain by Desiree L. Scot pulled me in from the blurb. I found the story to be fast moving and have some realistic emotions. I was really surprised by the twist in the book. This book has many emotions and Charley Fae performed it brilliantly. She has a smooth voice and it was easy to distinguish who was speaking. I requested this review copy audiobook and have voluntarily written this review. I will listen to more books by this author and narrator.

Lost or Found?

Stranded on Vail Mountain
: Desiree L. Scott The premise of the book is good. Can and how do you move on after heartbreak? The main characters are introduced, but with the length there wasn't enough fleshing out. The supporting characters were just barely there. There were too many plot lines for a novella for it to be gripping. I did like the outdoor setting, and the remote location made it interesting. I will follow the next in the series with the hope it will be more.....

The narration was well done. The characters were well portrayed. Charley Fae put a lot of life and emotion in the characters.

Great Read

Stranded on Vail Mountain (Vail Mountain Trilogy #1) by Desiree L. Scott was a great read. Joan has decided to go on vacation in order to save her marriage. Unfortunately her marriage crumbles when she discovers her husband has been cheating on her. She ventures into a snowstorm and gets rescued by Stephen, a park ranger. I absolutely loved reading Joan and Stephen's story and would love to read more about the characters.

Great Story!

This was my first Desiree L. Scott's book and my first listen to Charley Fae's voice. Great team! I loved this Romantic Suspense, the first book in the Vail Mountain Trilogy. It was intriguing and fast-paced. I liked Joan and Stephen story. I loved the ending. I can't wait to listen to the next books in the Series. The narration was well done, easy to understand and the narrator has a great range of voices, easy to distinguish. I enjoyed my listening. Clean Romance

When Joan decides to take her husband Micheal in a vacation to try and save her marriage, Things go anything but right. Her best friend shows up at the resort, then Joan catchers her husband and friend together in a compromising position. Broken hearted she ends up lost on Vail Mountain in a blizzard.

Scott is a Mountain Ranger wants nothing more then to climb in bed and sleep until the blizzard passes when he gets the call of a woman lost on the mountain. When he finds and rescues Joan from her present predicament, he must save them both from the blizzard.

Neither are looking for love but sometimes your heart makes the decision for you.

Desiree L. Scott does a great job with this short book. It is a clean romance, no steamy sex, with just some language, but not a whole lot.
The book is only 2 hours 20 minutes long, but is jam packed and fast paced. Charley Fae does an amazing job with the narration, each character has a clear voice, and the narration parts are filled with emotion.

Quick story of forgiveness & new love

Joan has taken her husband for a surprise weekend on Vail Mountain in an attempt to save their marriage. She doesn’t count on her best friend showing up...coincidentally...nor does she count on finding her husband and best friend in bed together. Hurt and angry, Joan takes off on the mountain just before a blizzard and is injured and trapped. In comes Ranger Steven to the rescue.
Steven works for the mountain resort, on the search & rescue team. He’s called in to search for a missing female guest just before the blizzard hits. He locates the injured Joan just in time before hypothermia-has set in. They make it to a hunting cabin, where they take refuge for a night. The pair form a tentative friendship...and the chemistry between them is palpable. But can the relationship be anything more? Well, you’ll have to dive in yourself to find out if this couple gets an HEA! Good story and narration.
I accepted a complimentary copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

No Sex, Sweet and Short

Joan expected to spend a week trying to mend a failing marriage but was confronted with betrayal and adultery. In blind shock she headed up the mountain to just get away, unaware of an impending blizzard. In her despair she stumbled down a steep drop-off and sprained her ankle leaving her stranded as the snow thickened. Steven was called out to find her but the storm made it so difficult that his ATV lost grip and slid off the edge as he jumped off just in time. But he was close enough to find Joan. They found refuge for a night in a cabin but an avalanche caused them to make the treacherous walk back. Steven had one day to see the courage and strength in Joan and not understanding why, he fell for her. Joan had other things on her mind so it wasn’t until they were safe that she took a good long look at her hero.
In this quick listen there were a few inconsistencies that bothered me. Joan said she had a cat and Steven later said she was going home to her dog. And about the cat.. or dog... there’s no mention of it’s fate. Another thing, the cabin was originally 5 minutes from the resort but when they left it was miles away. And if an ankle is swollen three times it’s size, how does one walk miles in thigh-high snow? As far as “heat” in the story, there isn’t any, other than a couple kisses and implications. The story spans over three months with two deaths so it’s understandable that a two and a half hour audible lacked complete substance.

But Charley Fae did an excellent job, even with the male voices, bringing the storyline to life. It was sweet and it was quick. Not a disappointment but it didn’t rock my world.
It’s okay. 👌🏻

O.K.!

It was just okay for me!. This book was very short and in my opinion needed more development. The narration was good. The author character builds and plot was almost non-existing. This was not my first book by this author, I previously read Crescent Vendetta and enjoyed that immensely! I would be willing to read more books by this author to get a better feel of her writing style. I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.
