Publisher's summary

When dealing with demons, the devil's in the details...

Stealing mystical and arcane artifacts is a dangerous business, especially for a human, but Zoey Wharton is an exceptional thief. The trick to staying alive is having friends in all the wrong places. While having a witch and a werewolf on the payroll helps, being partners with a vampire really opens doors.

Zoey and Daniel were childhood sweethearts until a violent car crash took his life and left her shattered. When Daniel returned from the grave as a vampire, his only interest in Zoey was in keeping her safely apart from the secrets of his dark world. He has vowed to protect her, but his heart seems as cold as the night he calls home.

Five years later, a mysterious new client named Lucas Halfer offers Zoey a fortune to steal the Light of Alhorra. The search for the Light leads Zoey into the arms of an earthbound faery prince. Devinshea Quinn sweeps her off her feet, showing her everything the supernatural world has to offer, but Daniel still calls to her heart.

As the true nature of the Light is revealed, Zoey discovers Halfer is a demon and much more than money is at stake. Per her contract, she must give him the Light or spend an eternity in Hell. What's a girl to do except fight for her soul...and her heart.

Overall opinion: 2.25 Stars

I really wanted to like this book as the premise looked interesting and I enjoyed the supernatural elements.

Long and overly descriptive with some hot moments and interesting characters. The H was a complete ass a majority of the time. The h reminded me of a 13 year old in how she handled most situations. The ending was a major disappointment as the h is only ruled by attraction and went against everything that she fought for. I am on the fence about reading book 2.

Brief Summary: The first 40% is essentially YA and the next 60% adds a bit of erotica.

long book

11 hours of the H being an immature, stupid doormat was grating on the nerves. She had absolutely no leadership skills or competence to make me believe that she should have been the leader of the crew of thieves. Zoe was not a force to effect anything, but rather a ping pong ball guided by absolutely every single person around her. 3 stars because the story was interesting enough to make me finish it. I just wish the H had been written with more of a brain. Not sure how a supposed master thief could just jump into every harebrained idea that pops into her head saying all the while that there is no choice.

Fantastic! Kitty Bang rocks this!!

Lexi Blake is a genius, this series is the best of its genre I have read & ive tried not to nag too much for them to go on audio. This is like Christmas I read this whole series at least twice a year, it's got everything characters complex & endearing & hot. World building is phenomenal, the adventures & sex & interactions drag you in there is no aspect of this series that is dull. I can't praise it enough, completely unique in a gender that most of the books are different versions of the same. Just like Sylvia days the mark series this is my favorite from a author more famous for her other books. I love you Lexi Blake!!! So excited for sleeper to come out

I hate the angst of infidelity!

First, let me start by saying that Kitty Bang’s narration is outstanding. Her talent raises the story to an experience.

As for the writing, I really like the action and world building. I really like the original plot. I also like the characters, mostly. I don’t like the callousness and selfishness of the Heroine.
Danny, the Hero, tends to carry too much guilt and allows it to influence his actions. Some of his guilt needs to rub off on Z, the Heroine.

( this paragraph has spoilers)
The way she carries on with Danny and Dev without taking in account their feelings, really bothers me. In one chapter, she declares her forever love for Danny, stating that love means you stick with that person through good times and bad, and then she’s sleeping with Dev to forget her troubles; even if this affair can get Dev killed for breaking Vampire law. So if she really cares for Dev, she wouldn’t put him in that position . In addition, if she really loves Danny, she wouldn’t carry on with another man knowing how much it will hurt him. No, her distraction from her own troubles is more important; selfish Bit**!

I don’t like when authors use the angst caused by infidelity. I hate the feelings it evokes in me. I suffer too much empathy for the wounded parties.

So far, I’m ok continuing series hoping it all works out. However, if the issue doesn’t resolve itself soon, I’ll stop listening. Therefore, I’ve downloaded book two in hopes that a HEA is coming.

Cheesy

This is a knock-off of the Twilight series with cheesy sex scenes. I won't bother with any other books in the series.

Well....

This was a well written and performed book, but like some other reviewers, I dislike the main characters and their choices so much that I won't read or listen anymore of the series.

Ehh

The plot of the story is what drew me in, but the problem is the characters and the relationships between them. The relationship is dysfunctional and the whole vampire excuse is annoying and dated.

Lexi does PNR like a boss!

lexi has drawn me in to another world of hers!
I'm so glad I have more to listen to because I'm definitely intrigued by this storyline.
the love triangle usually didn't my thing but I know and trust this author to turn this into something amazing, suspenseful and hot!
Daniel and Zoey have an unbreakable bond, but there's no denying her feelings for Dev!

Lots of action

Zoey and Danny have history, they were engaged to be married prior to his human death. Danny keeps many secrets from Zoey, and Zoey doesn't understand the vampire world due to this. Honestly I have the story four stars, because the heroine in this story was a bit too selfish for my liking. Zoey shows strength in many areas except for discovering on how to truly help the man she says she loves and has loved since she was a girl. There are some twists that will keep you on your toes though. The narrative really made the story!
