Publisher's summary

The number one New York Times best-selling author of Wait for You and Be with Me returns with a daring tale that pushes boundaries.... in which a young woman learns that you can't run from your past - no matter how far you go.

At twenty-one, Calla hasn't done a lot of things. She's never been kissed, never seen the ocean, never gone to an amusement park. But growing up, she witnessed some things no child ever should. She still carries the physical and emotional scars of living with a strung-out mother, Mona - secrets she keeps from everyone, including her close circle of college friends.

But the safe cocoon Calla has carefully built is shattered when she discovers her mom has stolen her college money and run up a huge credit card debt in her name. Now Calla has to go back to the small town she thought she'd left behind and clean up her mom's mess again. Of course, when she arrives at her mother's bar, Mona is nowhere to be found. Instead, six feet of hotness named Jackson James is pouring drinks and keeping the place humming.

Sexy and intense, Jax is in Calla's business from the moment they meet, giving her a job and helping her search for Mona. And the way he looks at her makes it clear he wants to get horizontal - and maybe something more. Before Calla can let him get close, though, she's got to deal with the pain of the past - and some very bad guys out to mess her up if she doesn't give them her mom.

Good book

This is a really good series but so far I think this one the most. The first two seemed a bit juvenile for me, this one it feels like the guy would be more like in his 30s even though they say 24, so it's easier to relate. it keeps you wanting to listen but J. Lynn always does that. and if Sophie Eastlake could narrate every book on audible I would be in trouble with budgeting my books 😂

Best book in the series! (So far..)

If you could sum up Stay with Me in three words, what would they be?

Fabulous story line!

What did you like best about this story?

I enjoyed the first two books in the series, but the story lines were not incredibly suspenseful. In this book, there are some things that you figure out along the way, but there's a new challenge for Calla around every turn. I only have an hour left in the book, but I STILL haven't figured out the how/why Jacks seems to have known Calla from previously... eagerly anticipating getting that question answered!

Which character – as performed by Sophie Eastlake – was your favorite?

I love, love, LOVE the love story in this book and Jacks is hot in every way, but Calla is my favorite.... I can relate to her story to some degree, and love her strength and courage to keep moving forward after each hit.

Any additional comments?

The only thing negative I can say about this book (and the series) is that I wish the narrator could distinguish the characters voices just a little more. Still.. she's a fabulous narrator and easy to listen to.

Best of the Series

Sophie Eastlake aka Ms Julia Whelan narrates this book as the author intended. Our heroine is 21 and our hero 24 but you would never know it and it's quite a creative story in this series. Lots of good witty dialogue but you must be in the mood to hear it and to enjoy it.
Both leads make you want to savior the adventure and not just rush to the end. The publisher summery is spot on so no need to add to it. l have all the books in the series and l dont feel you need to read in order

Going on the 'Favorites' list!

Any additional comments?

Narration - Sophie Eastlake - Kick Ass

Honestly, Sophie could probably read me the phone book and I'd enjoy it. She's so good.

This is some J Lynn Redemption after Be with Me!

What I love about J Lynn is her ability to write the sweetest, most dreamy men. I mean Jax! Oh Jax! He is just the most wonderful, sweet, sexy, bad ass, protective, hot, oh, I could just go on and on about him, MAN!

I loved Calla too, BUT, I did find one aspect of the book a little annoying. The repetitive use of Holy 'insert silly word'. It was funny and kind of cute at first, but then it just kept going and going and going and was a little overkill, but that is the only thing that bothered me and kept this from being a 5 star read for me.

I laughed, I struggled to hold back tears, I sighed, I swooned, I felt so sad at times for Calla and all she kept being put through in this book. Nothing like kicking a character when she's down. There's a few misunderstandings and a couple things that I figured out early on, but not to the point of ruining the story for me.

This one is SO moving into my favorite pile!!!!

That is All!

Romantic Suspense+Dramatic Thriller = a great read

J Lynn sure knows how to write characters who don't have the best childhood story. And this story had a plot line that I didn't quite expect, certainly didn't connect with at first, but loved in the end.

The story opens with Calla finding out that her account has been emptied out and the only person who had access to that money was her mother...who is also a junkie. Calla has to find her mom so that she can hopefully get some of that money back and finish school so she can finally make a better life for herself.

Calla doesn't realize what kind of trouble her mother has gotten into until she finds herself caught in the middle of the threats. She has to rely on take-charge, sexy Jax to help search for her mom. Jax is very forward in how attracted he is to Calla, but since all she can see are her scars, she doesn't trust his feelings.

This story follows the romantic suspense of Jax and Calla, as well as the dramatic thriller of finding Calla's mother before the bad guys do. I enjoyed following along on the ride.
