I'm struggling with the fact this many books in the narrator, of his own accord or not, has changed the pronunciation of Rhi's name from a long i sound to a long e sound. I'm not far enough to rate the rest of the book but this is driving me a little nuts.
I get Ryder plays heavily in this book but I think we're all astute enough to keep it straight without the switch up in the audio presentation.
I hope it switches back soon.

SMOKE AND FIRE Part 1
After three years of not seeing one another someone sends Kinsey to Dreagan, unbeknownst to her her ex-lover Ryder is there. Ryder left her when she saw him shift into his dragon form and ran from him screaming like a banshee. Anyway, together they try to figure out who wanted Kinsey at Dreagan with Ryder and why.
Of course, you have to have a couple of murdering bad guys so Taraeth, king of the dark fae, and Mikkel, the killer uncle of Ulrik. Balladyn was here too but you never know if he’s decent or evil.
AND Rhi was there, too. I really, really like Rhi and I can’t wait to find out who her dragon king was. And I’d like to know why death’s minion, Daire, is following Rhi, invisibly.
No sex in in this part be the F-bomb was used 5 times.
SMOKE AND FIRE Part 2
The second book was spent with Ryder being love-sick and Kinsey being stubborn and acting like she was done with Ryder, while always thinking how much she wants and loves him. A little too much angst for me in part 1 & 2. I wasn’t going to judge to harshly until I read the other two parts, though. A lot of searching for any sign of Ulrik on their computers, only to find him right under their noses. AND still thoughts on Balladyn’s part of killing Taraeth so Balladyn could become king of the dark fae. Seems like he’s been thinking that for the past 2 or 3 books. He needs to kill, or be killed, and stop thinking about it. And I’m still not sure how I feel about Balladyn capturing Rhi and torturing her forever and she forgives him and has sex with him in this book? Yeah, I have a hard time with that.
And Con is still having a hard time believing Kinsey didn’t make up some reason for her to be there and that she’s really there to spy on the dragons and get proof that there really are dragons at Dreagan.
No sex in this part and the F-bomb was not used.
SMOKE AND FIRE Part 3
So, this will never be one of my Dragon King books. I got so tired of Kinsey saying, “He left me,” and her constant pity party; how he broke her heart, how afraid she was about giving him another chance, but having sex with him anyway. I had a hard time liking Kinsey. The best thing about this part was the time dedicated to Rhi and her “watcher.”
SMOKE AND FIRE Part 4
I wish I had just read this part first since it was the only one that was really any good: The “evidence” that Kinsey was at Dreagan to spy on them, Ryder dreading the fact that he was going to have to kill Kinsey, her in an almost catatonic state while she walked through the mansion, naked, and kicking the dragon asses, to get to Esther to kill her, to getting lost in her own mind, caused by a druid’s magic. Just all kinds of excitement in this final part. Best part in the series.
There was a couple of sex scenes and the F-bomb was used 1 time.
As to the narrator: No matter how hard I try Antony Ferguson will never be a favorite of mine. There just something wrong with his voice. None of his voices are “verra” good, male or female. And he has a difficult whispering when he really, really needs to.
