Publisher's summary

This bad-boy hockey player is about to meet his match....

Falling down is an accident. Staying down is a choice. Going down is a career-changer...that's the one I did.

How was I supposed to know that the NHL's toughest enforcer, the Red Wings' laundry room, and one security video would be my downfall?

I've spent more time in the penalty box than any other player in the NHL, but this time I really screwed up. How was I supposed to know that one night and one choice would be worse than all of my transgressions on the ice? Now, I've lost my team, my sponsors, and my publicist. For most people, it's bend or break. For me, it's melt or harden. My decision became obvious when I walked into my new PR firm, and she was sitting behind the desk.

Contains mature themes.

King Sin Bin is full of Sin!

Would you consider the audio edition of Sin Bin to be better than the print version?

I didn't read the print version - just listened to the story. But the voices add so much to the story.

What did you like best about this story?

I loved how Andre redeemed himself to me at the end.

What about Joe Hempel and Elizabeth Hart ’s performance did you like?

I loved the Canadian accent. It made me laugh.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Not all in one sitting, but towards the end, I didn't want to stop it.

Any additional comments?

This story was well told and I thought the narration added a lot to the story. Andre was one of those guys I wanted to knock on the head multiple times, but in the end he won me over. I though the narrators did a great job with the book.

Decent listen, predictable ***SPOILERS***

Narrators were good.
Storyline decent, liked having Duke and Charlie involved. Appreciated the half-sister relationship.
HEA was wrapped up nicely.
🙄I really wish authors, proofreaders, and editors would type check continuity. Skintight /Skinny jeans aren't coming off before shoes. In the last chapter/epilogue, Zoey says fiancè twice in the first 2 minutes, then again in 3 minutes. Andre and her are married. No one uses Financè if they're already married!

😒She's not a barracuda. If she was, this sex video scandal should have been shut down easily, especially if he was already sleeping around.
Why was her career shot to shit, two grown adults having sex, but the woman lost her job, and now she can't find work- sexist misogyny bullshit. Men sleep with their clients and subordinates ALL THE TIME.
**Assigning Andre as her client ** was a bullshit move on the PR company's part. He was the reason she lost her job in Chicago. Then you force proximity and think nothing will happen... get real. Gwen says they have new clients all over, reassign one of those to Zoey. Then she quits before the 30days? All that work to give it up over a dick- no. Not a barracuda. She was a devastated love sick woman. Who had taken for her client, well before the unfortunate tape was leaked.

🤨From the chapters with Andre's POV, they were clearly already emotionally involved before the sex tape. She never should have been doing movie nights "with her feet in his lap and popcorn on her stomach" that's not friendship or ethical client PR management - that's intimacy. Andre agreeing to essentially chaperone on the guise of a double date, please - just stop. That's Zoey setting up her own cock block. The amount of sexual tension that would have been in those settings.
Did NOT like how he put up roadblocks to fix his PR issues and planned on ruining her career a second time. Glad that turned around at the end.

Great Chemistry

Zoe and Andre have a past and have been apart since last year when everything fell apart. Andre was traded to Boston and Zoe ends up in Boston trying to get her career back. They are forced to work together and try to stay apart physically. Even though this is a hockey story, you don't have to know anything about hockey. Maria Luis writes with humor and I was laughing out loud in places. The couple end up getting a second chance together and then another set back. This is a wonderful story!

I liked the physical copy more

I remember liking this way more than I did this time. It could have been that I listened to the audio version instead of reading it.

I will say i got really annoyed that apparently the Hero had an accent, but only when it was the heroine's point of view. When it was his, he had zero accent, and the narrator really didn't fit the character, IMO.

I also think the herione was selfish when the truth came out.

The cutest in the series so far.

Love these narrators! Also, the story was so good, it had some enemies to lovers and friends to lovers vibes, it had mystery and so much chemistry between the two leads. It also made me laugh so much. It was also had angst. It was really fantastic.

Andre Beaumont and Zoe Mackenzie

*****SPOILER ALERT*****

Sin Bin by Maria Luis. Blades Hockey Series, book 2. Audiobook and ebook review. Audible Premium Plus and KU borrow. First impression: I like the original book cover and think the title is lame. I do not like the new cartoon cover. Slowburn (76%) hockey player/publicist romance. Dual POV. Dual style narration. Narrators Elizabeth Hart and Joe Hempel both read well. The audiobook is quite different from the ebook, which explains why it isn't available in the whispersync program. It's listed as 6 hours 4 minutes; I listened at speed 2.50 for 2 hours 40 minutes. I gave it an overall 3 star rating (2 star story; 5 star narration). Content warnings: security video of H and h having s e x in a locker room was released to the media; H's ex cheated on him, hid his baby from him, and then returned after his 2 year old son d¡ed to try to get back together.

Zoe Mackenzie (27; aka Moaning Zoe/Zo) was raised by her mom after her parents divorced. Zoe has a younger half-sister, Tia (12), from her father's second marriage. Zoe has made a few bad life altering decisions. Zoe was hockey star Andre Beaumont's publicist while he was in Detroit and, because they worked closely together, had become good friends. His cheating ex hid the fact that when they broke up she was pregnant, hid Aaron (his son) for two years, and then told Andre about him after Aaron died from bronchitis. The day Andre got the DNA results confirming that Aaron was his, he used Zoe for comfort. He never told her about Aaron. After the scandalous security video of her and Andre was released, Andre abandoned Zoe to handle the media frenzy on her own. Hurt and unemployable in the area, Zoe left her previous life in Detroit behind to move to Boston to start over. Her father is a restaurant owner and would like Zoe to work for him now that she is living with him and his family. She's been struggling for six months to find a job in Boston as a publicist. In order to get the job she wants, she made a deal with the owner of the company that she'll accept a 30 day trial period and promises her trial will be scandal free. Her new boss assigns Andre Beaumont (30; aka King Sin Bin/Sin), a hockey player from Canada. He is now an enforcer for the Boston Blades Hockey team, who earned his nickname for his time in the penalty box. Her boss is aware of the scandal between the two and adds a no sex stipulation.... Now that she is assigned as his new publicist, they fight their attraction but eventually succumb. His ex shows up to try to get him back. Zoe overhears why they broke up and that he lost a son. Broken, Andre pushes Zoe away because she wants more. Zoe leaves because she doesn't think he can ever give her more. At the end of the ebook, they're engaged; at the end of the audiobook, they've been married for 6 months.

This is my second and last attempt at reading/listening to this author's work. Her work has potential, but I can't identify with the characters. Further, I can't suspend reality enough to comprehend the stories playing out the way the author wrote them. They just don't make sense. These are supposedly adult characters, but they don't act like it. The final straw was the fact that the ebook and audiobook don't match. Maybe other readers/listeners will like the stories, they're just not a good fit for me. JP

It was great

Such a great book, I really enjoyed it from the star to the end. Love this series too.

Andre was unpredictable and sexy.
Zoe was so vulnerable even though she didn't want to show it.

I was entertained by this book and the narrators were so great for this book, contrary the to the first book I did hear more Joe Hemple and it was really great.

I enjoy this one!

Andre and Zoe are destined to be together. They hadn’t seen each other in 2 years after their shenanigans in the laundry room that was recorded and leaked. Zoe moves to Boston and gets a trial run to work for a new PR company and she is only getting 1 client for 1 month. Of course it would be with hockey’s bad boy that she thought she would never see again. Fate obviously had other plans. This book didn’t keep my attention as much as the first one, but I still very much enjoyed the story and can’t wait to continue the series.
