Publisher's Summary

For over a year, Miss Gwendolyn Parkes and the Duke of Sowrith have corresponded. At first an error, the letters quickly became something much more; a friendship forged on like minds and perhaps the hope of something more.
When Gwen is compelled by her employer to attend the duke at his Dartmoor estate, she is devastated to find her beloved friend cold and imperious, even if he is the most handsome man she's ever seen, despite his scars.
Edward, Duke of Sowrith, has longed to meet Gwen. After arranging her passage to his estate, he is tongue-tied when confronted with her quiet beauty. All too aware of the twisted ruin of his face, he allows fear to hold him silent, until Gwen's safety is threatened.
Finally together, they grow closer until it seems they can never again be apart. But can a commoner and a duke find a happily ever after?

oh so good!!!

Cassandra Dean is a new author to me and Ana Clements is a new narrator. Both are extremely talented. I loved how the author provide imagery of the moors and the narrator conveyed the emotions. Edward learned to love and was not blinded by his title or station, but used it in a positive way. To me it was neat that Edward and Gwen became friends before ever meeting. Typically I listen to romances (different time period) or mysteries. I loved how Gwen was able to see beyond Edwards scars or title. The narrator did a fantastic job performing the various characters. I was voluntarily provided this review copy audiobook at no charge by the author, narrator, and /or publisher. This book is a standalone book and has tenacious characters. The language is clean and the steam level appropriate for the time period.

Oh so good!

Cassandra Dean is a new author to me and Ana Clements is a new narrator. Both are extremely talented. I loved how the author provided the imagery of the moors and narrator conveyed the emotions. Edward learned to love and was not blinded by his station. To me it was neat that they became long distance friends before meeting. Typically I listen to Regency romances or mysteries or contemporary romance. I found this one to be so good and a nice change of time period. I loved how Gwen was able to see beyond his scars, more than Edward being a Duke. Lord Beecham was a character that I did not care for, and I was so glad that he was not the Duke. I absolutely loved the ending in this book. The narrator did a fantastic job performing the various characters. I was voluntarily provided with this review copy audiobook at no charge by the author, narrator, and or publisher. This is a standalone book and has tenacious characters. The language is clean, steam factor is appropriate for the time period.
