Publisher's summary

Having escaped Egypt with the other Hebrews during the Exodus, Shira is now living in freedom at the foot of Mount Sinai. When the people rebel by worshipping a golden idol, the ensuing chaos gives Shira an unexpected opportunity to assist a midwife. When the experience awakens a new desire in her, she defies her mother's wish for her to continue in the family weaving trade and pursues her heart's calling as an apprentice midwife.

But when a delivery goes horribly wrong, Shira finds herself in an impossible situation and bound to a man who betrayed her. As contention between the Hebrew tribes and the foreigners fans the flames of another dangerous rebellion, Shira comes face to face with the long-hidden pain of her past. Can she let go of all that has defined her to embrace who she truly is and believe in a hopeful future?

This was worth a read but not very exciting.

This book was hard to keep up with the different characters because of the way it was written. It was Very slow starting and the story was drawn out too long. It got wearisome at times, because Ms Cossette would make an event take so long to advance. The narrator, Sarah Mollo-Christensen was pretty good. She has the ability to do different ages believably. I was disappointed that in this story, Biblically documented miracles, if mentioned, were treated as banal as a regular day. I cannot believe anyone, much less a group of people, would be so blasé about the miracles they experienced.

Shadow of the Storm

Wow, incredible!!!! I first thought the book far too long, drawn out in sections, but I couldn’t seem to stop listening. Also, thought Shera was far too fearful for my blood, but still, couldn’t stop listening. I hated Devora for a long minute, but still, I could not stop listening to the book. Kira was my favorite in the first book and I think I wanted to read more of her in the second, but still, I kept listening.
This was absolutely great!!! The author grabbed my heart and turned my passions upside down, far more than I can ever articulate. And, I thoroughly loved the author’s ability to keep biblical history and storyline at the forefront. AWESOME!!!
The spirit of Forgiveness is ALWAYS my heart and Shera carried that spirit, though fearful, throughout much of the book, she showed forth great strength that I as a reader so embraced and admired. Awesome AWESOME read. :)

I have listened to this 3 times

I love the way this takes you there. You feel part of the story. To be walking with Moses. Eating manna and traveling in tents. Excellent writing and reading. Such expression !

Amazing story

Captured my attention throughout the book, I found myself wanting to know what will happen next, which makes for an excellent story line. I will listen to more of connilyn’s books, it builds my faith and has much underlying truth built in. God does truly heal peoples broken hearts, one day at a time, one step at a time.

wonderful

this story starts out slow. if it wasn't for the fact that it had characters from the first story, I wouldn't have finished the book. However, after the first chapter or two, I was hooked and had a hard time putting it down.
This book is a wonderful story of forgiveness and God's love for all.

Excellent continuance of the story......

This 2nd book in the series is just as good as the 1st one. We loved learning more about Shira and her struggles and faith. This series is sooo good! Wish we could give it 10 stars! And on to the 3rd book!

Very Enjoyable

Shira's perspective on the continuation of a brilliant story adds dimension and depth. I was afraid I would not be happy because the author changed the first person character from which the story was spun. it turns out I like Shira well as I liked Kiya

Excellent story

Narrator is good, nice low male voice but a bit more emotion would be nice. Didn't quite ever lose the fact it was narrator.

Beautiful story of love and forgiveness

Loved imagining with the author what it must have been like in the camp of Hebrews

Just wow!!

I’m not really into books like this usually but the story was gripping and hard not to finish in just a couple of days. I think I set a record for myself with how quickly I finished listening to this.
