Publisher's summary

One family brings its own brand of justice to the streets of Chicago's shadowy underworld as number one New York Times best-selling author Christine Feehan returns to a series hot enough to burn....

The paparazzi can't get enough of infamous bad boy Giovanni Ferraro. But unknown to them - and the women he beds - he's just playing a role. Keeping the spotlight on himself keeps it off the family business. And if this lethal shadow rider can't hunt in the dark, he'll find his pleasure elsewhere....

Sasha Provis grew up on a Wyoming ranch and thought she knew how to protect herself from predators. But in the nightclub where she works, she's fair game - until one of the owners steps in to protect her. Giovanni is gorgeous. He's dangerous. And his every touch takes her breath away. The devil at her heels may have finally met its match....

This Heroine was a breath of fresh air!

I’m a 50 year old woman, so I totally get how popular culture has affected women’s self image. However, the Heroines of the first two books were ridiculous. I really got sick of them questioning how their man could really desire them. I was so glad the author changed that theme, in this book. The Heroine did have some self doubt, but it was more at a human level, rather than , “an emotional abuse victim” level.
The plot followed the same path as the previous two books, except the villain wasn’t the obvious person for an obvious reason. Actually, I think the author was trying so hard to make this plot different from book one and two, that the conflict and resolution was pretty slim. If the descriptive violence in the two previous books was a bit too much for your taste, you’ll be happy to know that there is very little violence, in book three.
Some reviewers criticized the slow burn between the H/h in book two, this book is a complete opposite. This couple got hot and heavy quickly.

My biggest complaint about this series is the lack of continuity between the books. I know that this must be difficult for an author that’s writes as many books and series as CF. Therefore, I think she needs to reconsider her choice of Beta readers and editors. Here’s an example of what I mean. In book one, the Heroine, Francesca, decides to quit her job at the deli because she is in danger and does not want to bring that danger to the owners of the deli. She also doesn’t want the reporters that are dogging her heals, to disrupt the business of her friends’ deli. In book two, she is working at the deli again and statements are made that she didn’t allow her husband to pressure her into quitting her job. In book three, the story goes back to the book one version. There is a family discussion in which Francesca is referred to as a “push over” because she gave in and quit her job and did the volunteer work her husband preferred she do. Now it’s likely that most readers/listeners wouldn’t notice or even care about such inconsistencies. However, my type A, neurotic personality get extremely irritated about incorrect details.

Finally, as always, Jim Frangione’s narration was brilliant and I’ve always enjoyed his vocal interpretations.

A stupid game?!! Really?

As I have always enjoyed a Feehan novel, I hate to admit this was a bit of a letdown. This book was basically a long sexathon between Sasha and Giovanni with some exciting bits thrown in between. Where as I am not really knocking the sex scenes per say, I am a reader who is more about the story line and there wasn't much of one here. The only really good thing about this book was Stefano and Francesca's news.

Shadow Keeper Book 3.

So, having been addicted to this latest series that Christine Feehan has been writing, and I know there have been quite a few mixed reviews on these books and granted they might not be for everyone, however I would like to point out that they TOTALLY work for me in every which way and I am totally on board with this family, I just love the Ferraro's family and I became quite addicted to each of the books and seeing more hidden depths to this family. In another way, one can also describe this next installment about Giovanni Ferraro as the star of Shadow Keeper and is a lethal combination of power, danger, and sensuality. Giovanni is playing the playboy role since he’s been sidelined with injuries and is unable to ride the shadows. Doing his part for family he’s hanging out at their night club and when he spots a certain waitress, his heart unlocks by the right woman for him. Sasha Provis needs the work and waitressing on the top tier with the high rollers can give her the tips to help take care of her brother’s care. The last thing on her mind is finding a man and of a love for her lifetime. Giovanni can’t believe the wait is over and will do anything in his power to show and tell Sasha they are meant to be together. While Giovanni attempts to make Sasha his own, a stalker wreaks havoc for the couple and the reasons are blurred on whether this is real or not. Time isn’t on their side which makes their time together even more important for him to show her how much she means to him. On the other hand the women in question known as Sasha grew up on ranch in Wyoming, where it was just her parents and her older brother. Her family was everything and she grew up out in the country where the only dangerous animal was a bull. She learned how to work hard and live a simple honest life. Until her parents were killed and her brother was injured with a brain injury that left him with no memory of her and she had to be forced to come to the city to work two jobs to pay for the best medical care for her brother who is her best friend. Once she meets Giovanni and his crazy family, she is drawn into a world that she doesn't feel comfortable with, but the man that she sees underneath that playboy surface makes her believe in love and safety again. But right when she and Giovanni are getting to a good place in their relationship...a dangerous stalker is after her and her man and both of them are in real danger. I find this third book and the storyline of the couples more enduring and finest of the first two. But I will also say that it is uniquely fitting to this two inviduals' love for each other.

As good as the first better than the second

I really enjoyed Giovanni and Sasha's story. I took me back to Stefano and Francesca story. I love the Ferraro family and the unique way they fall in love. I love all the mystery and suspense this book had to offer. There wasn't a lot of shadow riding in this one and that was my only disappointment. Jim Frangione as always was outstanding his narration perfection. Looking forward to the next one

way too many sex scenes

I read all of Christine Feehan books and love them. Over the last couple of years the sex gets longer and longer. Now about half of her books are nothing but sex. I live the story lines but the sex is getting to be way too much. This boarders on erotica and not romance.

Really great story.

**** LITTLE BIT OF A SPOIL****

I have the whole series, I love the series as a whole. Even though I have them all, manly because I wanted to know the whole story line that they add to in each book, I tend to always go back a listen again to the whole series but dont listen to book 2 or 4. (Although book 2) was very good, I wasn't to understanding how his Shibari Rope Tying obsession helped him release his anger, or how they did the deed if she was tied up. That being said it was a really good book. (And book 4) I Dont understand how he could dictate to her that he expected her to walk around the house nude as soon as the help left and when ever they where alone. And even though this book also had a lot of sex in it, I wont knock how much sex goes on in books 1 thru 4 like way to much, I'm suprise Jim Frangione didnt look at the producers and say something. It's not that all the sex is bad, it's how long she drags it out, sometimes a whole chapter, several different times in all the books. That being said all the books have great storylines, I loved them tremendously. And Jim Frangione does a fantastic job, as he does with all books he narrates for. Book 5 which is Taveono's and Nicolette's story is fantastic, as is book 6 which is Emme's story. I think I cried a bit in that one, it's a really great story. MUST READ THE WHOLE SERIES, YOU WILL FALL IN LOVE WITH THEM ALL.

To much sex not enough story

I really enjoyed the first few books but, this book seems to focus on sex instead of the story
