I loved loved loved all of Joanna Wylde's previous Reapers stories and excitedly expected more of the same with this book.. but sadly it just didn't grab me. So much of the story came from Mandy's inner thoughts.. and yes, very occasionally there were some of Shade's inner thoughts too. Ok so there were some interactions between the characters I guess with a bit of angst, some danger drama, occasional light humor and sex.. but a hell of a lot of the story was taken up by Mandy's constant jaded mental musings about not wanting or needing a man in her life because, in the past, they've all let her and her sister down.
I felt the dark bad boy top dog biker vibe oozing from Shade and I wanted to hear more from him.. yes he was a possessive alpha who rescued Mandy and her sister from certain trouble.. however, there wasn't any romance, tender sentiments, touching thoughts or loving words. Instead these two relationship phobic characters kept having one night stands with each other.. not wanting to commit more - never actually exchanging the I love yous. And not even the excellent narration could save this listen for me.
Worth a credit? For me personally I like a lot more 'doing' between characters and A LOT less 'thinking' about stuff so, for that reason, I sadly have to say no.. and I must admit it became a bit of a chore getting through this one.

love the fact it center around my home town. cda and post falls. So very good i think it sexy as hell.
Not a bad novella. The protagonists were likeable, particularly the alpha-male biker.
He was brooding, intelligent and alpha. However, the female lead was strong enough to challenge him, which kept the story going.
