Publisher's summary

In order to save his friend's life, Wyr sentinel Rune Ainissesthai made a bargain with Vampyre Queen Carling - without knowing what she would ask from him in return. But when Rune attempts to make good on his debt, he finds a woman on the edge.

Recently, Carling's power has become erratic, forcing her followers to flee in fear. Despite the danger, Rune is drawn to the ailing Queen and decides to help her find a cure for the serpent's kiss - the vampyric disease that's killing her.

With their desire for each other escalating just as quickly as Carling's instability spirals out of control, the sentinel and the Queen will have to rely on each other if they have any hope of surviving the serpent's kiss.

Good story.

As with Harrison's other work, this has a dose of predictability, but it manages to veer from the path significantly enough to make the novel entertaining and worthwhile. I was pleased by the uncertain nature of the relationship between Rune and Carling, and the completely different type of personality that Rune compared to Dragos, while still maintaining control and managing situations. It is good enough to make me excited for Oracle's Moon...

She Walks in Beauty Like the Night...

Narration - Sophie Eastlake - Fabulous, of course...

So, book three in this delicious series follows 1st sentinel Rune as he fulfills his obligation to Carling, the Vampire Queen. She's dying as ancient vampires do, but she's also a practiced and powerful sorceress. She's been experiencing extreme power surges and fades where her body simply becomes inert and unresponsive.

Shortly after Rune comes to her, he causes her to feel and that just doesn't sit well with someone who is just trying to accept her fate and die. She sends Rune away and considers his debt paid. As you can guess, it doesn't quite work out that way and Rune and Carling end up on a mission to figure out why she is experiencing fades, power surges and coming closer and closer to death each day.

This is another extremely well written, intelligent, humorous, touching, romantic story in the Elder Races Series. Rune is sexy, funny, alphalicious and a total bad ass!
Carling is brilliant, has a bit of a crabby side (but it's all out of a sense of denial) and she's just the perfect fit for Rune. The two of them make a great team and the scenes with the youngster Carling are fabulous!

Love this Series. Second time going through the entire thing!

“I love you. I didn't want to. I fought it. I put up barriers, and they all came crashing down one by one. It wasn't just one thing. It was everything you did, both here in the present and back in the past. It's everything you were, and everything you are. So I just f***ing love you, and you are going to have to f***ing deal with it. You got that?”
― Thea Harrison, Serpent's Kiss

“She walks in beauty, like the night. Of cloudless climes and starry skies, And all that’s best of dark and bright Meets in her aspect and her eyes.’ Darling, you have always been gorgeous but now you are now officially the shit.”
― Thea Harrison, Serpent's Kiss

“I gave them their chance,” she said. “And my give-a-shit button’s broken, baby.”
― Thea Harrison, Serpent's Kiss

Love Love LOVE!!!

These books just keep getting better and better! This was the 3rd installment in the Elder Races and it did not disappoint. I am so excited to listen to the 4th book. I think Thea Harrison might be my new favorite author.

THE VERY BEST I'VE HEARD IN A LONG TIME!

If you could sum up Serpent's Kiss in three words, what would they be?

Suspenseful at the start,
Mysterious in the middle and
Humorous at the end

What other book might you compare Serpent's Kiss to and why?

Dragon Bound due the humor of the author

What about Sophie Eastlake’s performance did you like?

Sophie Eastlake is truly a fantastic craftsman when developing the different voices and the added talent of showing how different people talk in different locals of the United States.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

See who bites who first and see which bite really lasts!

Any additional comments?

I really love this book!!

MY FAVORITE OUT OF THE SERIES

I love the characters in this book. Queen Carling is described in the other books as being is so strong and powerful which is a good dominant role mix up from the other series. But when she falls weak minded, it's great to hear that someone comes to her rescue and then he becomes the dominant character. Worth the credit and keep continuing on with the series. You won't be disappointed if you enjoyed the series so far.

Most Interesting of the Elder Races Series so Far...

This wad by the far most interesting and least predictable of the Elder Races series so far.

I started this series as a mental break from my stressful life and enjoyed the first two books, but found them a little predictable. I settled into this one expecting much the same, but the plot and characters were way more interesting. I'm looking forward to seeing what the rest of this series has to offer.

So here's the deal--if you like fantasy, want to indulge in an intense romance, and are looking for something with a little more umph than most of the other books in the genre, this could be it for you.

For any high-brow snobs out there--probably not the best option.

great romance serious, I just love it.

I love this series, even the sex scenes are good which is saying a lot for most romance novels. These books make me laugh and they don't bore me at all, they keep me engaged and I really really enjoy them

Wish I had found this earlier.

The Elder Races series is quickly become a favorite. Wish I had found it earlier.

A Wyr Griffin and a Vampire... what could possibly go wrong with this match up? Everything and yet you still want them to be together in the end. ;)
