Publisher's summary

Falling in love was never in the cards for Leonidas. An angry witch made sure of that - if he loses his heart, he loses his life. But the treaty guaranteeing peace will die with him unless he wins the true love of a woman and she bears him a dragonling. When a fiery redheaded witch comes along with plans of her own, 500 years of guarding his heart and opening his bed might not be enough to protect him.

Because love is magic...and the fate of the mortal and immortal worlds depends on Rosalyn and Leonidas not only opening their hearts but surviving a love that's true....

Contains mature themes.

Good story

Kept me listening and on the edge of my seat. I have to say, though that Roger Wayne is NOT my favorite. His female voices are too affected and high pitched. One of his male voice, for Lucien I believe, sounds like The Godfather. It was so distracting and kind of disappointing after having Joe Arden for the early books. Otherwise a great story!

Talk about a wild ride!

Wow, Rosalyn really redeemed herself in this one. Poor Leonidas I thought he definitely like to screw Lucian; but it looks like he's been fucking Leonidas over even longer. I'm still not sure how Zyphen's kidnapping Arabella and attempting to rape her twice, not to mention what he did to Cara is not a direct violation of the treaty because I thought it one of the books it said that he was not allowed to interfere directly with the dragons meeting the terms of the Treaty yet he gets to rape one's wife kidnap one's wife and put one's life in a cage because he can't rape her and then get a vampire demon bit I don't understand how that's not a direct violation of the treaty although I am glad the Queen stepped in :-) and I can't wait to see what the next installment has in store I hope we get to see Rosalyn's pregnancy the way we did Arabella's and then will come poor Lexander

Intense and riveting

The storyline in this book was intense, unique, and interesting; totally held my attention. The main female character was unlikable until she was. The narrators did a great job. Looking forward to listening to the next book!

So Gripping, Will the Curse Win?

Leonidas and Rosalyn's story continues on in this book from their first book Chosen by a Dragon which in my opinion you MUST listen to before this one. I have to admit that in the first book I really felt for Leonidas, his history was already known to me as I have listened to all the books in this series so far. Leonidas is a good and powerful man/dragon who is cursed to die if he should ever fall in love.

Fate is sometimes cruel and for mankind to be protected by an ancient treaty Leonidas must mate, not only mate but he must mate with someone who loves him truly and deeply. Can Rosalyn do that? When this book started Leonidas was already suffering the effects of his own particular curse. It is up to Rosalyn to try to save him. In this book Rosalyn undergoes a complete personality turn around. She is no longer just out for herself, she feels she must do what she can to free Leonidas from his curse. Will she be able to? Will she fall in love with him? Will it be a complete Love?

Questions, questions which I'm not going to answer because you MUST listen to this book to find out. Also in this story we have more trouble from the dark fey prince Zephen who has tried for millennia to break the treaty which The House of Smoke protect. We also have vampires and demons.

What I can tell you is that Alisa Woods has yet again woven a tale which you will find you can not stop listening to, it has many surprises twists and turns and will keep you guessing to the very end.

The performance by Noelle Bridges and Roger Wayne is excellent and they are both perfect for the story.

I am now eagerly awaiting the next book to find out the fate of Leonidas and Rosalyn

I was confused by some of the changes

How did Kenny's name get changed? The kings right hand man's name was changed. Why?

Too much modern swearing

For my taste, every other word being “fuck” is quite off putting. There are so many other descriptive words in the English language. Try some.
