Publisher's summary

As one of the top paid defense-men in the NHL, my life has been a revolving door of beautiful women and no-strings-attached sex. Until Brynne.

It was only supposed to be a one-night-fling. Hell, it wasn't even supposed to be that. I knew the cardinal rule. Don't touch the coach's daughter. And for years, I kept my hands to myself. It wasn't difficult considering Brynne Jacobs hates my guts.

She can't stand being in the same room as me - except for that one night. A night that left me hell bent on having more. Having all of her. But she took off. No text. No explanation. Not even a goodbye.

Now she's back, but she's not alone. She's got a kid. A kid with all-too-familiar blue eyes and dimples. Math might not be my strong suit, but a quick calculation and I know the baby is mine. And she's delusional if she thinks I'm going to let her keep him from me.

Damaged. Callous. Cold. Those are the words she uses to describe me. And I've never claimed to be anything more. But for her - for them - I want to be.

I've been a fighter on the ice my entire life. Now, I'm fighting for the one thing I've spent my life running from - family.

Author's note: This is a stand-alone spin-off of the Amazon Top 25 best seller, Second Draft. You do not have to hear Second Draft first. No cliffhanger, and a guaranteed happily ever after.

Secrets Revealed

This book has so many facets. I loved the theme of hope, love, forgiveness, redemption and healing. The author did an awesome job touching on the issue of addiction and how it affects so many. As a parent of someone battling addiction, the emotions involved were spot on. The chance at love was also prevalent in this heartfelt story. Unconditional love is so special, and not earned, but freely given. This book will stick with me on many aspects.
The narrator did a fantastic performance with the various character voices and all of the emotions. My review is not a synopsis of the book, but rather my opinion of it. I requested this review copy audiobook and have voluntarily written this review.

5 Hockey Playing Stars!

Second Shot is an amazing second chance romance. I'm such a sucker for secret babies, so I was hooked right from the blurb. C. M. Seabrook didn't disappoint one bit.

I loved both Kane and Brynne! They both balanced eachother out and had great chemistry throughout the story. Really enjoyed their banter and how Kane dealt with Brynne's stubbornness going all alpha. Of course my favorite part that had me swooning was everytime Kane was with baby Noah and how protective he was. Not only did I love the love story between them, but the story behind their pasts. It's always important to shed light and awareness to difficult topics like drug addiction and mental illness.

C M Seabrook did a great job writing Second Shot. It's an easy flowing standalone with its own HEA. Evelyn Marcail also did an amazing job narrating Second Shot in the dual POV. Definitely a must 1-click for me. Really hoping Blake and Kiley get the own book. In dying to find out what's going on with those two!

Second chance gold

I love, love, love this book! Brynn a and Kain have wormed their way into my heart! At first I wanted to shake some sense into Brynn, but as the story developed I started to fall in love with her. Kain is easy to love,. Over all everything from the narration to the book itself is gold

Second chances and men with babies

This is my first CM Seabrook book and I am hooked. This second chance romance had me captivated from the first chapter and I couldn't stop listening, Kane and Brynn have always had chemistry, but circumstances always seemed to keep them apart. Its easy to to fall for Kane, he is loyal and protective. And there is nothing sexier than a man with his baby. Brynn is not so easy to like. Her character does not trust easily and cannot see situations for what they really are. Her attitude was hard to take at times, her stubbornness to see the truth keeping her from happiness and causing her unnecessary heartache. As time went on, it was good to see her grow and change. I loved the fact that CM Seabrook incorporated a second chance romance in with some serious themes as well. With drug abuse and suicide at the source of many of the misconceptions in Kane and Brynn's relationship, the storyline incorporated the seriousness of real life giving the story some grit. Families dealing with such tragedy and crisis go through so much and the story brought that out well with the relationship of Brynn and her father as well as Kane and with his sister Kylie.

This is my first book narrated my Evelyn Marcail, and I thought she did a wonderful job. Her performance is well paced and her voices easily distinguishable between characters. I look forward to more narrations by her and will, definitely be listening to more CM Seabrook releases.

Love from the beginning!!!!

Where does Second Shot rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

Second Shot was filled with so much emotion.
You can tell Kane loves Brynne from the very beginning. I felt the emotions coming off the page from the narration.
Brynne was good at pushing people away and Kane is just the person to push back.

Any additional comments?

The only thing that could have made this audio better was if the male parts were read by a male.

Sigh Worthy

I was provided this audiobook through Audiobook Boom at no charge by the author, publisher and/or narrator in exchange for an unbiased review.

Cute cover. Fitting. Age old story of a woman, Brynn, getting pregnant and skipping town to do it all herself. In this scenario though, she's the only daughter of an NHL team coach and the father, Kane, is a star defenseman treated like a son by the coach. Kane was Brynn’s brother’s best friend who died of an overdose. Brynn believes Kane was responsible for it and there lies the basic conflict. Kane is not what she has always believed and his one night stand with her had meant a lot more to him. He now has a second shot at gaining her trust and love.

Evelyn Marcail has a mature voice but not particularly old sounding. She does a good job.

One Thumb Way Up!

Absolute Perfection!!

This was such a great book! I loved everything about this story! It was definitely something I would read again and again. The narration was great. The narrator did a great job going from male to female, which it often times hard to follow! I seriously loved everything about the characters and this story! I found myself disappointed and sad when the story ended because I was left asking myself if I could find anything equally as good to read next!!!!

This book was given to me for free at my request and I provided this voluntary review.

Good Listen

Brynne is angry that her brother is gone and she leaves town. Now she's back and with a baby that no one knows about. Will she forgive those that she thinks wronged her brother or can she face the truth. Good Narration.
