Publisher's summary

Daisy Grace Webber's life hasn't exactly turned out how she thought it would. She didn't think she'd drop out of college and come back to the small town she grew up in. To be fair, she didn't think her love of baking would turn into a job at the Violet Hill Cafe either, but it did.

Something else she didn't expect was for Molly Madison to walk back into her life, eight years after she moved away. They'd been best friends forever, or so she'd thought. But Molly is back in town and she's looking...really good, actually. And that reminds Daisy of that one time at a sleepover when they'd kissed during a game of Spin the Bottle. That one kiss has been on her mind since then, but it's irrelevant. Molly isn't into girls.

But as Daisy and Molly spend more time together, feelings start to grow, and Daisy is wondering just how "straight" Molly really is...

Great Short Story!

Overall, I enjoyed this book. The narrator was good and the story was pleasant. I like the way the author tackled and conveyed difficult aspects within the LGBTQ community throughout the book. Ultimately, a great read!

Sweet and short

This is a novella about former best friends who meet each other years later. Daisy is single and not very happy with her life when Molly walks back into her life in the bakery cafe where Daisy works as a baker. While Daisy remembers the teenage kiss they had while playing Spin the Bottle, she is ambivalent about seeing Molly again. Fortunately, Molly has the strength to reach out.

This novella deals with overcoming past hurts and accepting love. It was very saccharine and cute, but had some sexy scenes, too. The narrator has such a youthful voice that worked really well for these two young women.

good story, annoying narrator

The story might have been good but the narrator's choice for voices was so annoying

Best friends

This audiobook was provided by the author, narrator, or publisher at no cost in exchange for an unbiased review courtesy of AudiobookBoom dot com.

I'm not a fan of profanity, so that's really my only issue with the book. I love how the focus on their relationship is based on their friendship as kids. Instead of just focusing on sex, they build a blanket fort, have ticket fights, and play on the swing sets. I liked the supportive mom as opposed to the upset-mom, and the story has a happy ending. The story is told in first person, and I think the narrator was a fantastic fit for the main character. She conveys the emotions of distaste, worry, and excitement very well. She uses a completely different set of mannerisms for mom, which fit the mom figure very well. I wasn't a big fan of molly's voice. if you pay attention, she does speak differently so you can tell them apart, but the pitch isn't significantly different so it can be a little bit difficult.

Second Kiss - short and sweet

Would you consider the audio edition of Second Kiss to be better than the print version?

I haven't read the print version, but the audio version was enjoyable.

Which character – as performed by Ramona Master – was your favorite?

The narrator did a great job of making me believe she was Daisy. I felt like Daisy was really talking to me.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

BFF's and more!

Any additional comments?

I enjoyed this short audiobook. I did wish that Molly's voice didn't always sound sexy, even in regular conversation, but Daisy's voice more than made up for that. The story was cute and sexy. I would read more from this author, and I would listen to this narrator again. I was voluntarily provided this review copy audiobook at no charge by the author, publisher and/or narrator.

Great quick read

Any additional comments?

Second Kiss by Chelsea M. Cameron was a great book. This book followed Daisy and Molly finding each other after not seeing each other in many years. They find that maybe there were always other feelings for each other.

cute short novella

I was voluntarily provided this review copy audiobook at no charge by the author, publisher, and/or narrator.

Second Kiss is a very cute romance about two best friends who rekindle their friendship after haven't seeing each other in years. Through their years apart they both discovered they are lesbians. When Molly walks into Daisy's job she's doesn't know how to feel. Daisy was definitely hurt when she left, but she also realizes how she felt for Molly all those years ago.

I liked that Daisy and Molly always had feelings for one another, but didn't know what it meant when they were kids. They share their experiences of coming out to their families and the events that led to them discovering they were lesbians.

I think I definitely liked the narrator, Ramona Masters better listening to this book. There always seems to be drawl when she narrates making it appear that the character has an accent. It does not take away from the story though.

More please

Enjoyed this book from beginning to end. Nicely paced and interesting story though a little predictable. Wish the characters would've been a little more fleshed out but what we got was good. Could've been longer for sure.

Predictable

Any additional comments?

This book was very stereotyped. With that said, I liked it. It left a little to be desired in the romance department. It was mostly about two old friends rekindling after growing up and becoming lesbians (something neither of them new).

I was given this book for free for a honest review.
