Publisher's Summary

Romance novelist Clarice Adler has lost the inspiration to write ever since dumping her cheating boyfriend. How do you dream up a plot of two people falling in love when you've stopped believing in love yourself? But her deadline is looming, and her career hangs in the balance, so she decides to lock herself away on the secluded Scottish Isle of Skye to finish her manuscript. Upon meeting Derek McMillan there, it seems she's found her new muse, and the words start to flow out of her as if by magic. Clarice falls for him hard, despite knowing nothing about the man except that he's unavailable.
Derek McMillan has been managing his farm and renting out a few holiday cottages on his own for years now. He deals with the occasional tourist for some extra money but mostly keeps to himself. When he first lays eyes on the curvy beauty, Clarice, he immediately regrets accepting her booking. Lightning strikes, and as much as he tries to deny it, his inner bear knows that she's his mate. But he's a shifter, and she's a human, and the two can't ever mix, can they?
In this steamy paranormal romance novella, follow along as an impossible love blossoms between two people who couldn't be more different. One might say fate intended for them to meet, if you believe in that sort of thing, but they're both set on fighting their attraction with everything they've got. They're going to need another push to admit to themselves as well as each other what's going on....

Bear Hug Anyone?

.......sorry couldn't resist.

Overall, this was a decent story and I enjoyed listening it; however, it does start off slowly.

While this is a short story, it's a complete story about Derek and Clarice but ends on a cliffhanger which is setting up for the next book in the series. I think this series would great if all three stories could be combined into audiobook

I thought Patrick did a great job narrating the story and loved his voice. Personally, if it is a romance story, I much rather hear a guy's sexy voice than a girls voice! ;-)

Nice start to a new series

This is a cute, short, sweet, bear shifter story set in Scotland. There is not very much drama, but as it is the first in a series, there is world building and set up for future drama, as well as an introduction to interesting and entertaining characters who will no doubt have great stories to come. I liked that the author was able to do all this even though the story is short and still manage to not have the H and h instantly fall in love and into bed. I liked getting to know them both a bit first and am interested in seeing where they go from here.

Patrick Blackthorne does a good job with male and female voices, and his tone, inflection pronunciation and enunciation are great. The only reason I would call this good narration instead of fantastic narration has to do with the story that he is reading. Had the story been set in the US, 5 stars, but this story is set in Scotland, and no one has a Scottish accent. I do think that the overall audio experience would have been better with the accent. However, I would absolutely consider his narration a positive selling point for any audiobook with American accents and will look forward to hearing more from him.

I received this audiobook in exchange for an unbiased review. The number of stars is based on where I believe this audiobook rates with other audiobooks of the same type, length and general feel-- not where it rates in comparison to all audiobooks of all time.
