Bent, Not Broken!

I was amazed by this book! I loved the setting of Scotland for most of the story and thought the imagery was so well done. Both narrators added so much to the book with their accents, distinguishable voices for various characters, and the raw emotions. Both are top notch!
The main vibe I got from this book was Bent, not Broken. What the characters endured, no one should ever have to go thru. This book had some unexpected twists and turns, some despicable characters along with hope, resilience, and love.
I definitely will listen to more books by this author and narrators, plus I will listen to this book again as it was so well done. My review is not a synopsis, but my opinion.

Savage

This is my first book from both the authors and I believe the narrators. The story was great and kept me interested the whole time waiting to see what came next and the narration was AMAZING! I absolutely loved the accent done and can’t wait to hear more of it. The ending of this story was great. I loved seeing how it all came together.

Amazing!

Scotland. LA Fiore has made this a place that I would like to visit. This story of two broken souls is one that will resonate with me for a while. Lizzie, an artist, has had a horrible childhood and has never found a place where she felt that she belonged. When she inherits a cottage from her Aunt Brianna in Scotland, she finally finds her heart...in more than one way. Brochan, a tortured soul, finds his way to Lizzie and their story of love and redemption begins. This emotional story has a beauty and the beast quality giving the dark, broody, dangerous hero the chance to find his love. But is their connection strong enough to survive? Fiore brings Scotland alive with the brilliant descriptions, castles, foods(haggis..not sure I want that) and phrases. Brochan is a complex and emotional character complimented by Lizzie who can see the good in him. Their journey is one worth going on with them.

Now the narration. Narrators can make or break a book, but the casting of Aaron Shedlock and Tracy Marks for this one is brilliant. The talent that these two have with creating a character's personality through voice is impeccable. Throw in the ability to do a precise Scottish accent and it is beyond incredible. The way these two bring this book to life is music to the ears.

✫✫ 4 Stars ✫✫

I very much enjoyed this book! It is dark with a HEA which is exactly what I like! This is a beauty & the beast type of story. He is dark, violent (kinda) and a little grumpy lol. She is a sort of stranger in a strange land. They both have damaged pasts which I think brings them closer together. It took him falling in love to put the past behind him. She didn't have a nice childhood but instead of that making her "damaged" it made her strong and caring. I really loved their love story! And without giving any spoilers I'll just say I love paybacks!!!!

Aaron Shedlock & Tracy Marks really did an awesome job with this one. The Scottish accents by both of them were SOOOO good!! This duo can narrate anything and I would listen!!!

More than meets the eye

Any additional comments?

This audio was smoking hot. The accent performed by the male narrator made my panties wet. Both narrators did a fabulous job. The story was intriguing, enduring, emotional, and steamy, with a side order of danger. The heroin was strong and intelligent. The story line was well balanced and quick. I loved every moment. If you’re looking for a easy listen, with heat and some mystery this audio is perfect for you.

Impressive narration!

Savage by LA Fiore… this book absolutely blew me away! I mean, look the cover to start with… don’t you just feel like the cover model is staring into your soul? I swear, he can see right through me and he knows it all!! The colors and his eyes are seriously entrancing! It’s a gorgeous cover, yet, it’s so simple looking! Fiore’s words are just as entrancing as the cover. I was enthralled!

Savage starts out totally brutal and it really sets the pace for the book. It’s deep and intense and pulled me in. Brochan McIntyre has had a rough life… I won’t get into all that but he’s broken. It’s so intense and dark!! His past haunts him and his past saddens me and made my heart ache for him. Lizzie Danton finds herself with an inherited cottage in Scotland (if only) and once she arrives, she finds that she feels a connection, she feels she’s found a place she can call her home.

Brochan is a total enigma… people don’t know what to think of him. Is he a werewolf? People whisper and point. What he is, is broken, he’s reserved and keeps to himself. I’ll tell ya… I’ve never been to Scotland, I’ve never researched it or anything and I suck and geology… but I felt like Fiore totally brought me to Scotland!! I felt like I got to live it through Lizzie’s eyes… it’s like having a child and experiencing life over through them. I loved it! The foods, the foreign language, the views of the land. It was a masterpiece! Fiore told a magically story of a place that seems like a dream and two people who deserve more than they’ve ever had!

This narration is the most amazing I have ever heard. If I could give this more than 5 stars for performance, I would. I've seen several books by Aaron Shedlock and Tracy Marks but I have never listened to them previously. Aaron's Scottish brogue was the best I have ever heard! The narrators inflicted so much emotion with just their voices. I read this book before and I loved it, however, listening to the narration brings it up another notch. I cried through this audio book and I didn't cry through the book.

Savage

Savage is very dark with a magical feel about it. This story takes you to the darkest places of Lizzie and Brochan's souls. They endured things in their childhood, that no child should have to. They came together by chance in Scotland

Why are all the reviews so good????

Honestly, this book annoyed the crap out of me.

The writing was very repetitive, as if we wouldn’t catch a theme or a thought unless it was said three times by every character. I rolled my eyes about a million times every time a different, unrelated person said, “she gave him his family...” ugh is there only one way to say she researched the man’s family tree? And when it turned out that he knew where his family was the entire time, hmmm, didn’t we overdo the whole thing, then?

The vocabulary in the dialogue was unbelievable—using words and phrasing that would fit better in a thought or description than coming from one of the character’s mouths. Example: when you’re talking to one of your girlfriends on the phone and she’s looking at a hot guy, you tell her to take a picture. That makes sense. But the response being “I will not take a picture of the man unbeknownst to him.” Fuck off. People don’t speak like that. That’s how an author would write about something, it’s not what a girl would say when she’s joking around with her friend.

The entire book was more overly dramatic than a Spanish soap opera FOR EXAMPLE UGH this line was just said, “I never knew a person could experience conflicting emotions, and that was happening now.” Like, why????? Has the writer never been sad and mad before??? How can someone not know that conflicting emotions are a thing? And it should say “...but that was happening now.” Or when she found out he’s a hit man and is only “mildly surprised” and told him that he “kills for a living, that doesn’t make him a killer.” ????????? When you kill someone you are a killer!!!!! That’s how things work!!!!!!! Just everything infuriated me about this book. I could go on and on about the weak drama but I won’t, just trust me this shit is flimsy!!! Don’t even get me started on how she saw a truck roll into a ditch and for some reason???? every one blamed her for it???? not the guy who didn’t use the parking brake? They blamed her???? For no reason other than she’s the main character!!!!!!

Lastly, the male narrator was good but the female narrator sounds like a robot. She is completely unemotional and has the same cadence of voice in every sentence. Just super annoying and it completely pulls you out of the story.

Oh one more thing the sex scenes are horrible. Who almost orgasms from watching a guy jerk off???? Stupid.
