Publisher's summary

One woman embarks on the adventure of a lifetime when she meets a man with irrepressible passion and a penchant for peril Samantha Barrett is looking for a hero. He can’t be just any man, but one worthy of her girlish fantasies. Dashing. Dangerous. Forbidden. Exactly like the mesmerizingly handsome stranger who just strode into the smoky tavern. Except he isn’t a stranger, he’s Remington Worth, earl of Gresham. London’s most notorious rake. Though tempted by Samantha’s beauty and innocent desire, Remington cannot allow her to be tainted by his perilous exploits. For he isn’t the man she thinks he is. As the Crown’s most loyal covert agent, the former navy captain and war hero leads a dangerous double life. But as passion builds between them, risking his life for his country is nothing compared to how far Remington will go to keep Samantha safe - and locked in his arms forever. Samantha is the second book of the Barrett Family series, which also includesMy Heart's Desire.

I eye rolled so much I got dizzy

I wanted to like this book, because I like the narrator and also the book's title (main female lead) has the same name as I. And I know, I know, debutantes back then were presented to court around 17-18y.o. and married men decades their senior. But she acts so naive and very much like a teenager which is I think good writing because yes that is how teenagers think. But a grown man, who is also very worldly, falling in love with her because of these very innocent and naive, immature features just gives me the ickies. She acts much too immaturely for me to get over the age gap. I'm not usually uncomfortable with age gaps provided the younger one actually is mature enough to be at least on the same EQ/IQ level as the older partner but here, this definitely is not the case.

Delicious love scenes!!!

Another great story. So very different than the first book, but that is what I liked about it. Different in that the heroine falls in love with the hero immediately as she sets eyes on him and is not shy to express it to him. She is also extremely innocent and open about her feelings and very trusting. I have honestly not read a book where the heroine so openly verbally praises the hero without any worries or insecurities. Refreshing to say the least.

The characters are also all very likable as in the first book and the story very engaging. Wish there were more characters to write another book about. :( since I have enjoyed these two books so much. Perhaps we can hope...

it has it all!

When Graystoncomes to Samantha Barrett''s aide one rainy night, neither could have dreamed of the path their lives would take. A Rogue, An innocent debutant, and an intrigue that would include an agent of the crown, espionage high seas piracy, murder and mayhem. This plot keeps you guesing even as you cheer the unlikely couple along. this story has something for everyone. Don't miss the adventure as they discover their future and whether their paths shall mega into one or continue as two.

Great series

I love Andrea Kane. Her Diamond series duo is terrific and her gold coin series duo is wonderful and her Barrett family series due is excellent as well. I just finished all 6 books this past week ending with this one. I’m only sorry that she hasn’t done a lot more regency. I’m not interested in the modern ones. I thought this one was better than the first Barrett book because the first one had too many repetitive sex scenes. Don’t really need more than one or two. I like at least one or two but after that they sort of take up space. These are super easy listens and the heroes and heroines are all likable, even the tortured rakes. I liked all 6 and recommend them for easy listening — a bit like the elevator music but much better!!!

True Faith

I loved the first book in the series but this one is better. The first few chapters had me laughing until my sides hurt. Touching, charming and funny Samantha has it all. True to the end.

Loved it!

I really didn’t know who the “bad guys” where until the final chapter. Since I normally guess in the first three chapters, that is saying something!

childish heroine and hero is ?

this was a childish heroine if I ever heard of one! She never grows up throughout the book as I was hoping she would. This is a "at least it's something to listen to" right now book.

I wanted so much to like it….

I enjoyed My Hearts Desire so I thought this one would be as good. Unfortunately I could not get over the immaturity of Samantha compared to the maturity of Remington. It was odd. The way the narrator makes her voice sounds like she’s 12. This is turn made me annoyed and uninterested in the story.

Don’t waste the time!

Unless you like a lot of sexual description, and less of a good story! Very disappointed
