Publisher's summary

The first in a sexy contemporary romance series from New York Times best-selling author Lexi Blake.

Riley Lawless believes the CEO of StratCast orchestrated his parents' murder 20 years ago to steal his father's software program. And there's only one way he can find some solid evidence - and wreak his vengeance.

Heir to the StratCast legacy, Ellie Stratton hires a new attorney to handle a delicate business matter - and she's shocked by her attraction to him. Over the course of a few weeks, Riley becomes her lover, her friend, her everything.

But when her life is threatened, Ellie discovers that Riley is more obsessed with settling an old score than in the love she thought they were building. And Riley must choose between a revenge he's prepared for all his life and the woman he's sure he can't live without.

Great characters and story

A friend put me on to this. I took a chance and I'm glad I did. Really good story, with just about as many plot twists as you can handle when you're totally into the characters. The narration was very sensitive and smart. Totally recommended.

Good & love the narration

I've always liked Lexi Blake but this story wasn't my favorite. Alexandra Shawnee really drew me in, I love her and she performed all the male voices so spot on. Overall she made this one a great listen!

Fascinating new series

Would you consider the audio edition of Ruthless to be better than the print version?

Don't know I did not read the print version, but I loved the narration.

What did you like best about this story?

This story was very complex. I loved that. This the story of two different types of families and how a couple that came from very different circumstances can be so in sync. It was just such an interesting story.

What does Alexandra Shawnee bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

She brings all of these new characters to life, plus added depths to the characters that came from the "Masters and Mercenaries" series.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

It did make me cry a little at the end.

Any additional comments?

This is a great new series from a wonderful author.

Lexi Blake writes a "Ruthless" read, again!

My Audible library is full of Lexi Blake...thought I liked the first character introduced in the family, Mia but I think I'm going to like Bran sp? more. But first Riley...oh so sexy and cuddly! I'm so happy he was able to find his soul mate in this book. I think my favorite part was the memory he had of his dad telling him he only needed to be happy when he grew up and Riley realizing that was what he was...I wonder what his dad taught Drew and Bran they needed to be? Can't wait for the next book! Hurry!!!

A Good Ruthless

Spoiler Ahead This was the first book in a new series by one of my favorite author's. The Lawless siblings are bound by vengeance Drew, Riley Bran and Mia who is married to Case Taggart lost their parents twenty year ago when they were killed by Ellie Stratton's father and his business partners. When Ellie needs a new lawyer to buy out her father's partner she hires Riley Lawless. Riley didn't count on Ellie being so attractive and him wanting to get into her pants. I really liked Ellie she was a strong female who has been through a lot her father who was cruel and never loved her she had a husband who cheated on her with her sister Sherry who I couldn't stand and in her divorce she had to pay her husband ten million dollar and he was still asking her for money and she had a best friend Lily who I just knew betrayed her. As Riley learns for about her he realizes that she is nothing like her father and he tries to soften the blow to her what they didn't count on is her father's partner Steven knowing who Riley was. In this book we get to know the Lawless siblings Drew and Riley grew up in a group home and when Drew aged out Riley was jumped and suffers nightmares. Bran also had it bad being moved from home to home he has a problem with his temper and always getting into fights. Mia who was adopted by a loving couple is the voice of reason to her brother's. When Ellie is arrested for a crime that she didn't commit and she finds out was Riley did she wants nothing to do with him, but she has nothing and she needs him and his family to help her prove that it was not her. I felt bad that everyone in Ellie's life has betrayed her even her best friend and I think Riley felt bad about that also that's why he stood up to Drew and choose her over getting even or his family and in her own way Ellie helped each brother's. I am still on the fence about Hatch their father's friend although he said that he was not the fourth partner. This was a really good book with the suspense that love when reading Lexi's books this book was well written and read as I listened to it on audio. I also love the narrators voice. I am looking forward to reading or listening to the next book in this series. Will Bran found the one?

Disappointing

Love Lexi Blake's books and had just listened to her Masters and Mercenaries series which were totally awesome this story was great but the narrator was so hard to listen to it was very disappointing and I was very glad it came with my subscription and I did not pay full price I will just buy these books and read instead of listen to the rest Lexi Blake's books are great this narrator does not do these characters justice and makes the story very hard to follow because they all pretty much sound the same

Great Start to an amazing series!!!

This is book one in this new series by Lexi Blake although we do get a McKay-Taggert which come from the Masters & Mercenaries series, and I was on the edge of my seat for most of this one.

I loved Riley and Ellie together. The fact that she was able to change how Riley thinks had me swooning.

In this book we get the story of why the Lawless siblings are who they are and some of the mystery is solved but in that solution we get an even deeper mystery and new secrets.

The players change and love is found.

I highly recommend this book!!!

Good story horrible narrator

The story is good but it was almost spoiled by the very bad fake dramatics of the narrator. You have to be determined to plow through her high school drama speech.
