Publisher's summary

After a lifetime of longing for a real family, Sarah Smith thought she'd finally found her home with rock star Abe Bellamy, even if she knew Abe didn't love her the way she loved him. But their brief relationship, filled with tragedy and heartache, nearly destroyed her. Alone, emotions in turmoil, and already shaky self-esteem shattered, Sarah struggles to pick up the pieces in the wake of their divorce.

Abe knows he's to blame for the end of his marriage. Caught in a web of painful memories, he pushed away the best thing in his life - the sexy, smart woman he adores - breaking them both in the process. Then fate throws him a second chance to get things right, to prove to Sarah that she means everything to him. Abe desperately wants that second chance at love, even if he knows he doesn't deserve it.

But can he convince Sarah - now strong and independent without him - to risk her wounded heart one more time?

IMO, GOOD.. BUT IT WAS THE WEAKEST IN THE SERIES

As Abe and Sarah's marriage crumbles through drugs, grief, broken promises and harsh words Sarah thought it would totally break her.. and it nearly did. But, after the heartache of a love lost, hurtful words and shattered dreams dwindled to manageable pain, Sarah blossomed into a successful businesswoman and took over her own life.. and the direction it took. Abe however was hurting.. still hurting over the death of his little sister and heartbroken over the loss of the woman he deeply loved - so what did he do? Well, like any good Rocker.. he partied - partied hard - partied until his Band mates checked him into rehab. When he wasn't high or drunk anymore, and could think clearly, he knew one thing.. he wanted his wife back - and he'd move heaven and earth to get her to love him again.

And so starts this romantic second chance love story because Abe is given the unexpected chance to show Sarah how much he's changed, how much he regrets his past behaviour, how much he's willing to do anything for her.. and how much he loves her. But Sarah is very cautious about lowering her shields and letting Abe in to maybe shatter her world all over again. So it's up to Abe to show Sarah rather than tell her that the old Abe is gone.. replaced by a caring, loving, dependable.. and sober Abe.

While this was an enjoyable dual POV love story, I did feel the loss of certain scenes that would have made this listen more punchy, deeper and dramatic. However, after their rocky start, Abe and Sarah sailed nicely into their HEA's with no dramas or angsty situation - except the background worry that things would go smoothly for all. There were sex scenes but they weren't over described, overdone or prolonged, all the other well loved band mates (and their significant others) were present.. and sometimes the spotlight was turned their way - and there were a few other secondary characters too. I love Justine O. Keef's narration - her male voices are great and so too were the secondary characters whose voices were all different.

Worth a credit? Nalini Singh has wrapped up this series well, tied a shiny ribbon around it.. and even given us a big fat bow on top.. so hell yeah it's creditworthy.

Left a lot to be desired

I read an earlier review by someone who said nothing really happened in this story. So very true. In fact it was more as if the outline of the book was narrated instead of the book. We mostly just hear time moved on and during that time x y and z happened and it's later now.

It truly prevents you from being invested in the storyline or the characters. It's been awhile since I read and listened to the other books but I didn't remember them being written in the same way. Very disappointing and I think I'll ask for my credit back. Wait for a sale or buy one get one deal otherwise you will be disappointed

Abe & Sarah

Disliked the FMC she was weak, a doormat, immediately has unprotected sex with the walking STD and accepted his past mental abuse.
The MMC had many vises/issues (drugs, alcohol & women) and he had no problem being cruel and disrespectful to the FMC.
He shouldn’t have been given a second chance.
No groveling. Epilogue. HEA.

So Great!

Your writing has evolved so much over the past 15 years!!!! OMG. I love how you have fleshed out the storyline and given so much depth to the characters! I have most of your titles on audible, the Rock series is absolutely the best I have read so far! I can’t wait to see the next series you bring out for us!!!!

Loved it❤️

The beginning was sad with Abe being frosty toward his wife, his behaviour had me in tears at the end. I always enjoy Nalini Singh's books.

Second Chance

The narrator did a good job. I enjoyed this second chance romance between Abe & Sarah and I loved revisiting with the other characters of this series.

A total miss ☹️

Normally I think Nalini Singh is a virtual Goddess when it comes to writing romance but I was so disappointed by this book that I could not wait until it was over. I felt it dragged on too long with trivial dialogues or descriptions that did not add any depth or interest to the story. For instance, we don’t need to hear or read about what kind of breakfast the heroine and hero ate described in great detail. This story could have been told in half the length or time.... Also it was extremely depressing at times which took away from the romance aspect. I mean really?! Did the heroine past have to be that messed up and depressing???? It wAs too much and I’m afraid the editor on this book failed to do their job😕

All the feels- triumphant!

Careful of triggers. If you have ever lost a child be forewarned. As usual Nahlini weaves the most amazing stories. This story was at times heart wrenching, but also fun and determined. Sometimes you don’t realize what you have until you lose it all - with enough determination sometimes you can get it back and more!!

Great story!

It’s a great story that ties everything up in a beautiful package. My only comment is that it shouldn’t be book 2.5. It contains spoilers for later books in the series.
