Publisher's summary

#1 New York Times and USA Today bestselling author Nora Roberts enchants again with this beloved classic about the passionate and headstrong MacGregor family.

Scotland, 1745. Against the bloody background of the Battle of Culloden, another war was waged and won - the price was honor, the victory, love.

Scottish beauty Serena MacGregor's hatred of all English began as a child when she watched as a band of Englishmen attacked her mother. Her brother's friend, Brigham Langston, was no exception to Serena's loathing - despite his supposed loyalty to the Scottish cause...and his good looks.

Although Brigham eventually proves himself worthy of the MacGregor family's respect, Serena is still reluctant to abandon her hatred for him and his heritage. But Brigham has other plans. Serena has captivated him with her beauty, her passion for life, and commitment to her beliefs - and he refuses to let her antagonistic attitude keep him from winning her. And Serena must learn to open her mind - as Brigham opens his heart - to see the true love awaiting her.

My Favorite Nora Roberts Book

Would you consider the audio edition of Rebellion to be better than the print version?

I loved the print version. The narrator does a fantastic job voicing all of the characters in this audio version. When I read the book, the dialogue sounds more American because that's what I'm used to, so the accents in the book were a treat. And the voice made Brigham a bit more of an English lord to my ears.

What other book might you compare Rebellion to and why?

I usually think of Diana Gabaldon's Outlander, but only because it features the battle of Culloden. Nora's book has a lighter touch. It's a shorter book and the people in it are sort of like those from a fairy tale. But they're good people to get to know.

Which scene was your favorite?

There are a lot of scenes that feature the main romantic couple that just make me smile. I found that I smiled quite a bit as I listened. The big scene is the reunion of Brigham and Serena after the battle, but there are a lot of important events that lead up to that moment and they cannot be dismissed for the sake of choosing one favorite scene. It's a great book overall with a bunch of great scenes.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

I do not write tag lines. It would take way too much thought. lol

Any additional comments?

I have read this book many times. Love it every time.

My first Macgregor book

I am looking forward to the next book. The narrator spoke in statement like sentences and not as characters would speak. The was good though.

Very unimpressed!

I was waiting for it to pick up but it never did and it could have ended halfway through the book. The female character appeared whishy washy and though portrayed as a headstrong woman, seemed like a moody female...

Not what I'm used to

Not the usual Nora Roberts book - felt a bit like a history lesson. Will continue with the sequel

Serena & Brigham

What a beautiful story to add to the series. Love how Brigham and Serena's happy story came together. It's a bittersweet ending for all of our characters here but they still have it nonetheless. The only thing I would change is Grandpa Ian.

So romantic...

I was hesitant about the narrator at first but grew to enjoy her very very much. Extremely talented in her portrayal of characters and accents. Then there is the story itself which is just lovely and captivating. Glad I purchased this book.

"The Lass Is a Trojan!"

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

If you love a great Scott's story and accent, then is one of Nora Roberts's best classics!
It's about a journey and the vocabulary and fun thoughts of the famous MacGregor family, this is the start.

What did you like best about this story?

If you are doing chores, that are really occupying your mind, you will miss the wonderful colorful Scott's phases used. It would be a shame as that is really what makes this story good.
Characters like Colin and Malcom, "Are you the English Pig?" who say witty colorful things, just gab your heart.

Which character – as performed by Angela Dawe – was your favorite?

I am a great fan of Ms Dawe, with over 60 listens to date purchased. I have many of hers yet to be heard, but her male voices in contemporary are to die for. Her historical Scott's accent is the all time best. When pared with Nora Roberts= Winner. I have all of the MacGregor series, what great joy to listen.
Contemporary, see the Tiffany Snow series she narrates for a yummy romance with mystery.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

Yes BIG smiles and barks of laughter, and yes tears too. After all, "Bonny Prince Charles" story does not fair well

outlander knock off

I love nora Roberts but I have just finished the outlander books and they are much better. if I had known this was going to be a fluffier/ less accurate version I wouldn't have spent the credit.

The Power of Love

Love is such a powerful emotion, especially when it's unconditional. Enjoyed the characters and all of the relationships. Rena's evolution was amazing. What a gift you have Ma Roberts!
