Publisher's Summary

Sometimes extreme provocation can lead to exactly what you need…Attracted. Kelly is focused on the bookstore she manages. Sex is relegated to a list of candidates on her PDA. Only one man pushes all her buttons? Her boss. Fascinated. Spencer is determined to fight his desire for Kelly. For years they've bumped heads over the store they both love. But there's more than one reason a potential relationship is too complicated. Provoked. When Kelly and Spencer unexpectedly meet up at a sex club, all the rules go out the window. Suddenly there's only one way this match of wills can end? Naked, preferably all night long. In this battle for sexual supremacy, there are two winners - and two losers, when their stubbornness leads to the very thing each dreads most. In a couple of scenes, Kelly and Spencer test "the more the merrier" theory.

Audible Editor Reviews

A battle of stubborn minds turns into a spicy competition between willful, lusty bodies.
Isabelle Gordn’s sultry voice creates the perfect atmosphere for Cari Quinn’s second Unveiled erotic romance in which a hot, sexy "ain’t gonna happen" relationship kept on simmer by a strained professionalism in a bookstore takes a wild, kinky turn. Witty dialogue and endearing chemistry provoke action that turns whispered longings into the fulfillment of pent-up passions, and the manager-employee relationship turns very unprofessional as Kelly Crossman is first surprised and then delighted in many, many ways to discover her troublesome, but very hot supervisor, Spencer Galvin, in the sex club Kink.

This is another retelling of an older boss’ attraction to one of his younger female employees, but he—the boss—is fighting the attraction, so his employee—who is also attracted to him—is unaware of her boss’ interest and the knowledge that he knows of her attraction to him. Though it’s not a new plot, the author does a good job with it. A sex club plays a part in this story, though there’s no BDSM. Instead, there's m//m/f sex & voyeurism.
I liked that the h is described, in part, as having attributes not commonly associated with female attractiveness; but I repeat that this is only in part. In other ways, it’s the same-o-same-o. I like that the h is strong and maintains that mental and emotional strength, which is also part of her appeal. The story is also plausible, which is good, and there are several times when the witty dialogue is smile-worthy, not laugh-aloud funny but definitely smile-worthy. The narrator does a good job with the characters’ voices, though nothing special. Generally, I always like this narrator.
But the story started to wane once I got past the half-way mark. The various sex scenes were somewhat repetitive and just got boring, and, don’t get me wrong, I like my sex scenes. I didn’t fully buy the ultimate loving relationship between the H & h, the boss & employee. I can’t put my finger on why. Plus, the angst and internal struggle of the boss begin to get old for me, and I lost interest in how the HEA would happen. The ending was good and made sense, but nothing more. So, altogether I was just underwhelmed. Not that I expected to be moved or have a transformative experience as a result of listening to this book, but it’s good when, even with romantic fiction, I’m left still smiling or thinking how yummy watching the story unfold was. And I just had nothing at the end. I didn’t regret buying this book, but I also wasn’t stirred to pursue this author again.

"Some Like It Hot"

Would you listen to Provoke Me again? Why?

yes, as Isabelle has a yummy male voice. It makes our hero hot. If you are a core FSOG reader, then this maybe too tame for you. This is a romance on the hot side, but not dark. Author has potential, and I purchased the other story featuring our heroines friend Alana. It was read by I.G. as well. Short and Hot!

What was one of the most memorable moments of Provoke Me?

when Spencer invites Danial to help play in the club. This is a light read, nothing earth shattering but well done for a romance that is not entirely erotica.

Have you listened to any of Isabelle Gordon’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

I.G. reads hot romances or erotica. When she reads A.K.A. Garba Zackman, they can be romances or main stream literature. She has a dreamy voice and for her male voices, YUM. This is a hot story and she makes it sizzle. I own all of I.G. recordings and 100 + of her reading as Gabra Zackman!

Any additional comments?

Note: if you use new 1.25x speed, it is great.
